e60 M5 has plenty power, but it is heavy! I would rather just get the e46 M to be honest.

I think the M3 would be my second choice. 240 is my first, as of right now.

I'm a bit confused as to what you're price range actually looks like (5-20k), I can say maintenance costs are always a killer when calculating the actual cost of ownership. I would stay away from the 335, they have issues with fuel pumps crapping out, injectors, water pumps, all of which are very expensive.
I wouldn't worry about pushing the car, just have it inspected for any issues. I felt the same way about my e46 being fragile. Last edited by mdsonicTT; 02-10-2013 at 08:36 PM. |

Option 1:
Overall nicer/newer car Looks more modern/fresh Better stock handling More expensive for maintenance/mods Payments for a few years+ Overall more expensive 3500 lbs+ Less power More practical Less ability to go out and have fun w/o worrying about something breaking Option 2: 90's sr20det More fun Well built (@PSI) to 400+ w/ good tune More aftermarket support Less expensive to mod/maintain Faster than a lot of other cars <3100 lbs w/ driver Ability to go f*** around and basically not care Reliable motor Sounds better

Or....you could finish paying off your car, and build what you have...There are plenty of people on here that have built 330i's...Think about the daily driving portion of you wants and ask yourself if you really want to not have conversations in your car because no-one can hear you over the exhaust Last edited by NukeMiller; 02-11-2013 at 02:31 AM. |

Yeah there's always going to be that age difference between the two. the S-chassis will be 20+ years old as opposed to a newer car that's less than 10 years old.
I thought about an Evo, and it could still happen. Still deciding between my options! I don't want to build a non M 3 series.. that's just weird to me lol. I'd get an M3 if I wanted to mod a BMW.

Approximately how much it'll cost me for each option.. good condition/low mileage..
Stock Evo - 22-25k. Stock G35 - 15-18k Stock M3 - 19-22k Built 240 - 18-20k (2-4k for chassis, 2k for motor/tranny, 7-8k for build parts, 3k for suspension/wheels, 1k for fix ups, 2k for paint) Stock 135i - 19-21k EVO - The AWD and somewhat boring interior is kind of holding me back (besides the seats). AWD isn't bad (you'd be a dumbass to think so), I just want RWD, and a decent interior. G35 - I've always wanted one for some reason. I like how they look, and they can look real sexy with just some wheels/suspension thrown on. They're not too fast though.. and they're not too mod friendly. Although I'd be happy to throw on a Motordyne exhaust on one! M3 - It's an M3. Classy, sexy, quick. Not fast. 333 is a decent amount of power. Again though, it's a BMW and I'd have to worry about something breaking every time I smash the gas pedal, and it won't be cheap. 240 - The chassis obviously older, but they're still popular and they're still sexy! The motor would be beast, it'd be fast considering I'd build it to 400+hp, and it would look fresh.. but in the end it would still be an early 90's car that has 20k put into it, and the reliability/life of the built motor would be unknown. I could buy a nicer car. 135i - Never driven it, never even sat in one.. the 300hp TT seems fun though, and I like the look of it! Don't know much about it though. How is each car, maintenance wise? I think from cheapest to most expensive, it'll be - 240, EVO, G35, 135i, M3. Thoughts?

why not get a s2000, 350z, the 240 is a good choice also... 350z are cool but dont corners as well as a s2k does but the 350 has a bit more tq.

Not getting an s2k lol they have the same torque as the 2000 Accord I had. They're only fun to drive above 5-6k rpm.
Everyone and their mom has a 350. Them and g35's aren't mod friendly. I'm really interested in the 135. I've read that their fuel pump goes out quickly? Anyone know anything about that? I've read about the JB3, I'd be interested in that as well as a FMI, downpipe, catback..
