ash tray/sunglass holder fitment/swap question

The ash tray door and eye glass holder is beat up (typical). I was going buy new ones. There are a few options.

1 - buy 2 new doors and keep the existing trim.
2 - buy it all together. I am wondering about the empty slot (pictured) where the convertible up/down buttons, seat warmers, etc go. Are there clips and can I just simply swap out mine for the new one pictured? Also my top tray opens down but the one pictured opens up....guessing that part doesn't really matter.
3 - refinish, but I am not that motivated lol.....its still an option though. Just thought if I could find a gently used one I would do a quick swap.

The slot in the middle simply pops out. Be sure not to break the clips when pushing it out through.

You have a sunglasses holder whereas the other one is a regular compartment similar to the bottom one.

Have you considered plastidipping it? Mine was about as jacked up as yours and it looks brand new now

I know...I should really stop being lazy and plastic dip right? Did you do the trim ring, or just the 2 doors?

if you buy a new console it will come with a new ash tray door. The top compartment is an open slot you can re-install yours. convertible sunglasses compartments open out and pull down like you said. Non-convertible ones have door that opens up and in.

hmm...that's a nice change for a small amount of effort. Did you sanded it or just cleaned it and started painting?

lol mine used to be worn, then i completely cleaned it down to the plastic. plastidipped it then figured it would rub off over time. so i stripped it down to the plastic again. looks great with the plastic and not bad at all.

I saw these older listings about refinishing the cubby doors. Just wondering how they held up. Any suggestions ?
