So what's the difference between the halogen version and xenon version? the halogen version is like half the price but even on pelican parts they say "not for cars with xenon lights" or something... they look the same to me? Khoalty and jlevisw don't specify with the ones they sell so what's the difference?

We've figured out they're both plastic... so what's the difference between the plastic ones?

I'd like to know as well.

My guess is thickness? Do xenons run hotter than halogens? Perhaps they'd be more heat resistant.

Perhaps its a marketing ploy.

I was sort of glad I my car came with halogens when I saw the price of the replacement lenses, compared to xenon lenses. They sure did update the look of my car. And $60 for both of them is more worth it than trying to polish the old ones with some sort of refinishing kit!

did we ever figure out what is the difference between the two?

I had the same thoughts as spencers about maybe the xenon ones being a bit thicker. I did observe that when I used the part number 63128382191 on a lookup, it says not for xenons and then the ones that are supposed to be for xenons 63126929565--those are actually cheaper (prices compared on one of those nationwide part dealerships).

Let me tell you the difference...price

There is no difference man, its a marketing scheme. The Xenon lenses are a BIT thicker and a BIT more heat resistant considering Xenons run a bit hotter. Tbh if i were you, I would just buy some lens renewal and put some elbow grease in cleaning your lenses. My lenses were literally FROSTED hard..like it looked awful..i cleaned the lens using the cleaner...looked like it was brand new off the lot. Trust me, it like a 10 dollar bottle...saves money. Unless your lenses are currently cracked or something...try cleaning them mate.

I ended up just getting the replacements from khoalty since other people that have xenons have used them without problems... since they're both plastic and are molded in the same exact shape who knows...

Glass vs plastic

Hi guys, I know this is an old thread but just wanted to touch basis on the plastic/glass headlight situation as wrong info is still floating around...

It's not based in the car but in the market, US does not permit glass covers, Europe does (did for those years, dont know now)
I have a euro 2002 330i with Xenons and it comes with glass covers.
(Prefacelift as it was produced 7/01, but it doesnt matter regarding this point)

Greeting from Costa Rica,
Pura vida
