what did you pay for your E46 diamond key replacement?

Still have both diamond keys, valet key and wallet key. Never had need to replace one.

Yes and? I guess I don't understand your point.

If you buy a key from the dealer you don't need to do anything but initialize it to unlock/lock doors it works to start your car.

Right but rather spend $180 I could spend $80 or whatever on a used or $50 for an new uncut and then cut it and use it.

I mentioned PA soft because some cars are at their max with key holders

Still won't work.. Even if you buy a used key how are you going to program it to your EWS? You need a AK90 programmer or whatever it's called.

Neither of your options will work as the transponder needs to be programmed to your car.

Your going to program the transponder using pa soft? Is that what your saying? If so, you can't.

The akp90 programmer is a special thing that you put the kid blade into ..

I call BS. First, no one will cut a blank key without a key to copy from. If you have a spare to copy from, then maybe, if you can find a locksmith with the right key machine and there are only two that will work.

Second, you have to program the EWS chip. That's only going to happen if you have the spare key to copy from and a special tool to rewrite it to a new key.

So if you buy a blank key on fleebay for $25, then try to find someone to cut it that will change you another $25. Then have the EWS programmed for another $25. If you're lucky, you get away with $75. No way $10. I looked EVERYWHERE and no one would cut and program a blank near me. Even if I had the spare. One locksmith would reprogram the whole EWS system and cut me a key for $350.

But still, why risk screwing up your car over $75. Just buy it from one of the places listed on here for under $150 (got mine shipped to my door for $140) and know it's going to be right.

Why couldn't I buy a new key from fleebay and program it in my car using the program method. Then give my cut key to a locksmith along with a blank then let him cut it and call it a day.
