Vin Diesel drops "Fast 8" teaser on Instagram

The FF franchise is not the type of movies you watch for the storyline or how close to reality it portrays. It's a fun action adventure movie to get your adrenaline pumping. It was never realistic since part 1 and it will never be for as long as they keep making it.

I've enjoyed all of them and will still look forward to how crazier they will make the 9th installment.

All of the above and more. With an opening weekend of 532.5 MILLION I think people are on board, the franchise knows what they're doing.

Was a big fan of the back and forth dialogue between Statham and the Rock as well as Tyrese continually taking jabs at Eastwood's character. Whether or not I should have been, found myself laughing through the film. Both at the sheer extravagances of it as well as the characters. At 2hrs and 40 min the run time is quite extended, and I would've been ok w/ certain portions being removed (or left for an extended cut) but if you're looking to turn your mind off for a couple hours and enjoy a summer flick this one fits the bill nicely.

Eastwood's character didn't even serve a purpose in the movie, he was totally underutilized. I get that they wanted him to fill that "pretty boy" role that Paul Walker left, but at least give him something to do!

As for the crazy box office opening, keep in mind that China and Russia contributed over $300 million to that number, and the US numbers were right around $100 million if memory serves.

Still great numbers no matter how you slice it, but I'm more curious how it does over the next few weeks.

It will be interesting in coming years to see how the US film industry begins to change their movies to cater more to the Chinese market, in particular. I can't help but wonder whether the longer running time is a reflection of this trend.

Eastwood's character was an utter waste... but I question what part of that was due to the actor and not the role. The Rock and Jason Statham stole the show with far fewer lines/opportunities...

Perhaps I just want to hate on him because his acting (based on this anyway) is seemingly atrocious and he's only getting roles due to his father... either way, I thought he was a worthless addition.

Maybe it's just me giving the film makers too much credit, and Eastwood having a relationship w/ Walker, but my mind (correct or not) went to it as more of an honoring of the character rather than just filling the void w/ a "Here's your new pretty boy replacement". Again that's prolly just me. I'd agree he didn't add anything of value w/ his character however enjoyed Tyrese's character taking jabs at him, and he did keep the import tuner inclusion w/ driving that FRS (Maybe BRZ) and then the STI later.

I have read the numbers, but as Dave says above that trend is going as a whole for viewership. Can't find the NYT article, but it highlighted that and we could see a full swing quite soon. The studios love the dollars, wherever they may be coming from.

And Chase I wouldn't be quick to make that assumption for his father, everything I've read (and again I don't know first hand) says to the contrary. There have been quite a few articles on the subject but who knows could all be BS to save face.

You bite your tongue right now. You and I both know that OC is full of Persians.
