Sounds like people got a poor ROI on their student loans.

This year might be tougher on deductions because I just got a bonus larger than ChrisDuke entire annual salary. But I won't be whining for more tax freebies because my car being almost 10 years old.

If there's one part of the tax code to whine about, it's the marriage penalty, but if you're smart you just never get legally married. Saves thousands or tens of thousands.
Thanks for the Monday morning lolz.

Unbelievable because it is. You are totally full of sh1t. Where I am and what I do is how I know that.

People getting quarter million bonuses aren't posting on a forum for a 20 year old car with the username eat sh1t.

I will admit it is probably one of the highest paying companies for engineers. I'm 3.5 years out of my undergraduate, I've put in the time. But let's focus on the topic at hand, instead of worrying about my bonus income.

And here I was thinking you were well into your 50s considering how salty you always are.

Salty is not an accurate description. I bring facts, and sometimes uncommon opinions to the discussion. Some people recognize and appreciate that, others fight it because it makes them uncomfortable.

What company, you can PM me if you want. Paying out $250k in a bonus is low level executive compensation, not for someone 3.5 years out of school.

I'll start a new thread to discuss if you'd like.

To answer your previous question (back on topic), it's not about handouts, it's about equality. Why should I, who went to school for a degree that allows me to repay my loans, not be able to deduct interest when someone who went for art history and makes $30k a year with the same interest gets to? It was a choice to choose a degree and a career that allows me to make money, why should I get penalized for that?

I agree about the marriage penalty though, it's BS.

Since I have respect for you (srsly, despite being mean sometimes) I will send you a PM.

To clarify my feeling on student loan deductions - nobody should get the deduction. It is indeed bullshit for higher income people to get phased out, particularly when that "higher income" is pretty meager.

Then we can agree on that. It should be an all or nothing mentality. Getting the "rich" to pay for the "poor" (the robin hood mentality) is total BS and basically goes against every ounce of equality we all demand from this country. Why should those that made/make the right choices pay for those who don't?

Agreed. A lot of deductions get phased out the more you earn. Where's Rhumb to refute this?
