That ECM thing sounds strange. You almost never heard of those needing to be replace. Half of them are bad diagnoses by independent mechanics. Possible.. who knows.

Water damage? Maybe he tried to hack it?

The body setup is strange too. It's a facelift sedan, but supposedly a 2001, but with a preface front bumper.

I dunno. I have a soft spot for Style 243s; maybe that's why I posted it.

If that's truly all that's wrong with it, definitely worth a shot. You can get replacement DMEs on eBay for like $50, and EWS isn't an issue anymore.

Is your average DIYer going to be able to do the DME programming and all that EWS stuff? I really don't have the slightest clue how to do any of that. I can use NCS expert at most.

Super nice but not my first choice:

1. Techno violet doesn't really flatter the E46's lines.
2. Automatic.
3. RHD.
4. White leather has certain......connotations.

Is the low price the starting bid for an auction or the actual asking price for the car?

There are pretty decent instructions online (on this very forum in fact). If you know how to use a computer, you should be able to follow the instructions out there.

MS45 from newer E46s would be harder

Wow, could be worth it if there is a decent donor car for interior bits.

2002 330Ci, black on black, ZSP, 139K, overhauled front suspension. Missing the pass. side A-pillar screw cover trim, but otherwise looks pretty clean.

2004 330Ci 5-speed. High mileage but looks very clean. Needs some maintenance but could be a great starting point for someone.
