On October 4, 2016, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Open Whisper Systems published a series of documents revealing that OWS had received a subpoena requiring them to provide information associated with two phone numbers for a federal grand jury investigation in the first half of 2016.[37][38][39] Only one of the two phone numbers was registered on Signal, and because of how the service is designed, OWS was only able to provide "the time the user’s account had been created and the last time it had connected to the service."

I get that people might mistakenly send them to you, but why do you keep them?

Some of the exploits are amazing but it blows me away that there are people with that level of skill set that are willing to build the tools used to spy on their own country.

I just saw that RT picked up this story.

They say it might be a secret code however what would be the point? They ARE secret themselves and wouldn't need to hide anything would they?

Also, aren't these just elaborate/sophisticated emojis?

Thinking face: Emojis read like secret code in CIA spy leaks https://www.rt.com/viral/379889-cia-...ks-emoji-code/

They're wayyyy out of touch. Yes, just emjois that have been around for years on forums. I mean, I'm sure it could be used as code but so could wingdings for that matter.

That's what I thought.

No need for a secret code if you already don't even exist.

That's the beauty of E46F. We parse this s*** and glean the good stuff while the world is distracted by pretty things.

I have not talked to any Russian assholes this entire decade, as far as I know. Although the owner lady at our favorite bakery has a weird accent that I can't quite place, so I try to get my cinny rolls from the cute cashier instead just in case.

Google says Android and Chrome are now strong enough to defend against at least some of the vulnerabilities that the CIA may have exploited to carry out covert surveillance programs.

Meanwhile Verizon hasn't pushed any updates through...

Does this wiki leak actually surprise any of you? I'd be more worried to find out CIA does not have these capabilities...

Test it out....start texting and emailing bogus ISIS affiliation claims and target reconnaissance details.......see how quick until you get a visit.

In all reality, that is the only way as Americans we can make this go away. To give so much bogus false alarms that they no longer rely on this as a tool. Like car alarms...when they first came out people paid attention...then when they all were going off, no one cared.

I think you're right. Most sane rational people these days assume that nothing they do online is truly private.

I think the bigger question is what were/are the vectors for infection for us commoners? Obviously if CIA/NSA wants to get your data they will.

But what if BitTorrent/PirateBay was compromised? I'm sure we all downloaded music or vids. Something to ponder.

Edit: this is in light of Apple's claims of having fixed these issues years ago.
