I have had dogs and cats my entire life, most of the cats have been jerks (they were female not sure if that's why )

Our current cat is a male though and he is awesome, very dog like, loves attention to the point that he can be annoying.

AND WE NEED UPDATES.

Just cook the cat and serve it to your mom.

No, seriously... I've never owned or known a male cat that wasn't like a dog. When my GF moved in, she brought a cat and I was like EH at first, but he's extremely fun and cool to have around.

Growing up... My Mom always had female cats. What a bunch of cvnts.

This.

My mother is much like the OPs mother, kept a 22 year old cat alive that had a stroke by feeding it with an eye dropper, surprised my father didn't kill both of them. The cat she had after that was the most evil animal ever, would attack anyone but her, I guess that's what happens when as a kitten it was harassed non stop by my younger sister.

That thing was evil, it's back finally broke (I guess cats spines can deteriorate when they get older) it was about 19 years old, had no ****ing spine and never said a word.

She's done the same thing with our dogs, kept them around until they were pretty much senile.

THIS is what alpha does.

Actually, i had a cat when growing up. It was female and totally dog like. Sleep at the foot of the bed. Wait by the door for me to get home at night. Always wanted to play. When i moved out for college she started pissing all over the place and my parents put her down without consulting me.

My parents are alpha AF.

I miss that furry little pussy.

And there's another test that is conducted on toddlers that involves the parent leaving the room to see how they respond. When a similar test was done with dogs they freaked out. The cats couldn't have cared less.

Yeah, I know. I just wanted to post that video to be an ass. I had a cat like that as a kid. He was Alpha AF, would lay in the driveway all day and chase any dog down that walked by.

But yes, most cats are assholes. After owning a dog, would never own a cat.

Why do we think about animals this way, but not people?

Who's we? I know several people who are for the ability to early terminate upon a lack of life quality or terminal illnesses. I was against this but after seeing some people recently go through the cancer "fight" and lose, it would have been much more humane to let them pass on peacefully without weeks, months or years of suffering. I'm not necessary talking about a 20 year old with cancer, though once it's clearly terminal the option should be open to them. What i'm mainly talking about is people in their 70s. A friend's mother was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor 3 years ago. She lead a miserable existence for 2 of the last 3 years and finally passed away 2 weeks ago.

On the other hand, who knows? Maybe we suffer in the period before death to help those we leave behind better cope with our departure. It's much easier when people can say, "well, at least they aren't suffering any more."

I'm all about ending it when quality of life has hit the shitter. I'm not planning on spending my last days drooling on myself in a nursing home.

While all your friends and relatives come ingrain that drooling image of you in their brains.

Ok so please just agree with me that it's moronic to lay down your life for your slave master, and the mere fact that cats won't have any of that ridiculous **** proves they are far more intelligent than robot slave dogs.

Since this has now turned into a quality at end of life discussion, let me get this back on topic. This cat is real. This is my friends cat that is 13 years old he and his wife inherited from an old aunt. His name is Chewbacca, Chewy for short. He often sits like this, and, on occasion pops a red rocket like an inferior dog. Friend made this meme of Chewy.

Holy hyperbole batman. I'd argue that it takes more brains to form an emotional bond, and that dogs have far more emotional and "normal" intelligence. Cats sit around all day and don't do sh!t, that's evidence enough that they're idiots. Most dogs would wreck a house if you left them without stimulation for too long. Cats are perfect for lazy people unwilling to put forth the effort that a dog requires.

You are two word changes away from making this a political thread.

Are cats liberal and dogs are conserves? Or is it the other way round?
