US MISSILE STRIKE on Syria : Here we go!

59 Tomahawk missiles fired at Syria over night. (94 million dollar attack if you're counting)

Support US strike in Syria:
•Turkey
•Saudi Arabia
•Israel
•UK
•Japan
•Australia

Oppose:
•Russia
•Iran
•China

More about Russia:
Quote:
The U.S. military gave Russian forces advanced notice of its strikes on a Syrian airbase and did not hit sections of the base where the Russians were believed to be present, Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said on Thursday.

Davis, briefing reporters on the operation, said the U.S. military had "multiple" conversations with Russian forces on Thursday before the strike, using a line of communication that had previously been established to prevent an accidental clash in Syria during the fight against Islamic State.

Quote:
No Russians were hurt in the missile strikes on the Shayrat Syrian airbase, Russian lawmaker Dmitry Sablin was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying. Mr Sablin, who is the deputy head of a Russian military veterans group, said the information was based on his own sources.

Gassing children is pretty fvcking low, so while I'm pretty much OK with this, the man is the walking definition of hypocrisy:

Let the Arab League take care of Syria. Why are these rich Arab countries not paying us for the tremendous cost of such an attack?

Awww you edited before I could reply, I had something for that. I just call bullsh!t when I see it, and lobbing missiles at a country without congressional consent is bullsh!t, especially when the person making the call had the opposite opinion and made it public.

Thanks, Obama

So DT called the Russians to advise and let them get their peeps out of the way, but not Congress... Hmmm...

I know, I know, there is the public response, and the behind-the-scenes response. I know the Russians are angry at the US over this (public response), but i wonder if those bastards aren't in on the whole thing from the beginning (behind-the-scenes) and are virtually patting their buddy DT on the head for raising hell in Syria...

Wonderful symbolic gesture. I wonder if there are any plans to follow it up with something meaningful.

I'll trade you a Hussein and a Bush for that Tomahawk.

The Hussein card has climbed in value over the past 8 years, and the bush will soon follow I'm sure...

That is perhaps the worst explanation of anything I've ever heard *. I hope it's a parody.

Don't munitions have a 'shelf life'? If so, I don't see the full $94M as actual cost. The munitions would have had to have been decommissioned and dismantled anyway at end of shelf life. The cost was already incurred in prior years. This event was simply the act of consuming the product that was already paid for.

Simplistically, like your milk in the fridge. Use it or pour it down the drain.

Regardless of the accounting piece, I support this move, but would love to see more cooperation by other nations geographically closer to this mess.

He pretty much had to respond. All things being equal, his response seems appropriate and measured. Telling the Russians ahead of time was a smart move to avoid escalation. I'm not a Trump guy, but compared to what Hillary was saying yesterday -"level all Syrian air bases"- this seems far more measured and surgical.

If you put it that way, a Casio digital wrist watch is hyperfuturistic space age technology compared to a sun dial.

Well, just a little perspective for those that have been worried about Trump leading us into wars.

Not that he wont, but ironically, the "Republican" candidate in this instance is the less hawkish one.

If the point of these bombings was to prevent further air strikes, more will need to be done, as military experts said the Syrian Air Force probably had their planes scattered across several military airfields to avoid losing everything they have in one attack.

If the tomahawk missiles were meant to prevent more attacks more needs to be done, if they were made as a statement, mission accomplished.
