ZHP OR NOT? Let me know!!

It has M3 side view mirrors, the front bumper has a splitter, and the color is too dark to tell if the rear bumper has the diffuser or not. It does have the red needles in the gauge cluster, the 6 speed manual transmission, and the M steering wheel. If it is a ZHP let me know, I'm very interested in getting it if it is.

Here is the link.

My Ride: 2003 330i ZHP
It certainly ticks off most of the boxes that would indicate that it is indeed, a ZHP coupe. remember, the coupes had some slightly different bits than the sedan i.e some trim pieces.

However, there are a few things that make me question whether it is truly a ZHP. One of those things is the absence of the rear splitter, or at least it appears to be absent. Another thing is the lack of the style 135 wheels, but swapping out wheels is obviously pretty common so that isn't a sure sign. One last thing that i noticed is that the interior trim looks like a carbon fiber wrap to me more than it does the "black cube" or "silver cube" trim. but who knows what might be under the wrap.

Looks like either a true ZHP or a very good clone.

It also has the trunk spoiler. And I agree with you on the trim wrap. Tricky situation. That color combo is so gorgeous.

The needles actually look discolored. Almost like they were colored using a sharpie, which I know some people do. I believe that this is a very good clone. The redline isn't any different though I'm not 100% positive on how big of a redline difference between the standard 330 and ZHP there is.

The red cluster needles seem to be diagnostic. You'd have to REALLY want to simulate a ZHP to go through all that trouble on a regular 330.

VIN decoder doesn't say anything definite. Would it list the ZHP package?

Possibly? I believe back then it was the performance package or something like that. Also, not sure if all zhps came with the cube trim, but it could be possible that very few came with wood trim.

It's not a ZHP. It does have the sport package and most likely the premium package.

Run the vin they give you on the dealer page through a vin decoder liker bimmer.work

It would have at least these options if it were a ZHP
710 M Leather Steering Wheel
716 M Aerodynamics Package Ii
787 M Lt/aly Wheels Double Sp.135 W Mixed T.

They must have done a full cluster swap then. I'm pretty sure that aside from the red needles and higher redline, the ZHP cluster looks slightly different.

I ran this same check and saw nothing of the performance package

As far as i know, all ZHP's came woth the cube trim, don't believe there was any other option besides the standard black or silver as an option

Now I believe this solves it. You cannot have both the sport package and the performance package on an E46, it's one or the other. In fact, this is just a VERY good clone

I see. Well thank you all for the information and help, I really appreciate it! The color combo is still very rare, and the condition is nice, just not a ZHP. I thought I had lucked out for a second haha. Thanks again guys.

That's not a ZHP cluster, the ZHP goes to 6800 RPMs and look at the shift knob, it's a 5 speed (although that may have been swapped by someone who doesn't care, because that ///M symbol is definitely not factory")

I actually think it's a six speed. If you look closely you can see the line that would go down to sixth. It's hard to see but it's there. I also believe the lighting creates a glare.

Now that I look at it more closely you're correct, it's not the ZHP cluster. And if you zoom in you can clearly see that the needles are colored in with a sharpie

Yeah, the guys beat me to it, but here's what my ZHP's VIN pulls up, for future reference:

710 M Leather Steering Wheel
716 M Aerodynamics Package Ii
760 Individual High-gloss Satin Chrome
767 Performance-package
770 Interior Trim Alu Silver Cube *
775 Individual Roof-lining Anthracite
787 M Lt/aly Wheels Double Sp.135 W Mixed T.

* The original trim was Black Cube...

Also, when looking at the rear, the Mtech bumper does NOT have the lower reflectors, which this car does.

Okay so we've established it's not a ZHP. Here's my next question:

Would it be a good buy? Even if it isn't a ZHP it's still a rare color combo with a 6 speed and low miles (94k). Aftermarket wheels and adjustable coil overs could be suspect but could also be good if they're decent models.

I currently have an 04 325ci auto so take that into account.

ZHP coupe cluster numerals aren't italic, either---unlike all other E46 coupes and convertibles. Another giveaway.

Not for that price. As mentioned on another thread, the mods don't add to the value of the car (and may actually detract from it), and an '04 330Ci/6 with 94K miles, assuming everything is in ship shape, should trade in the $6-7K range, IMO.

Solid point. So could would it be worth to haggle on the price? Or look for another car?
