And in 2020 we'll get a 9xx hp Challenger boat pos everyone will go apeshit about, at which point no one would give a **** about the Demon.

The dodge demon is boring and its sole purpose is to create an aura of hype around FCA for a couple of years. Car enthusiasm is not stat bragging.

I want the Viper back.

That's exactly what the Viper did...

In any case, I agree. The Demon is a redneck d1ck measuring contest while the Viper was a pretty good supercar for a lower price tag.

The demon is only 3000 cars for the US, then 300 for canada, that's it. Now, maybe they will make more if they sell out like the hellcats, but you gotta give big ups to FCA for having the stones to put something like this on sale. It's a great time to be a car guy. I also agree, the GC Trackhawk is a MUCH better daily driver.

And one correction for the original video, the demon is NOT the first car to use the AC system to cool the air charge, the Ford Lightning had a "supercooler" that did the same thing back in the day.

Those numbers ARE on 100 octane. On pump, it does 804hp and 707tq. THe funny thing is, it runs mid 11s with the black key on eco mode lol.

Tell us more about the car you've never driven. Also, you lose all credibility when you say a vehicle that weighs over 4000lbs, runs a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds, launches at 1.8Gs, and has a factory warranty is "boring." You know what's boring? 95% of silver german sedans.

.
Imo any passenger road car weighing over 4000 lbs is boring. Haven't driven/ridden in a single car that made me think otherwise.
The fact that this car has some neat stats doesn't prevent it from being boring. Sure there are those who get all their kicks from mashing the accelerator and going fast over a specified distance and then bragging about their 840 hp factory car when they are not living their life one quarter mile at a time. This is not what makes a car exciting in my eyes. And if FCA decides to make another 900 plus hp Challenger based hypeboat this car will become irrelevant and beta as ****.

I saw a black one today..... thing looked nasty. In person, it definitely has a presence about it.

So I've read since then. Every article I originally saw was screaming, "OMG 840 HP ON 93 OCTANE!"

Dodge could have done it, but they didn't. Friggin' sissies. The Demon isn't fast enough.

They'll make more. FCA is too greedy about stuff to do otherwise.

I do give them props for actually going through with this though. It's basically a "because we can" type of car and I applaud that from any manufacturer. It makes a statement, and a loud one at that.

This is your opinion...not the opinion of hundreds or thousands of people who have already bought hellcats, SRT Jeeps, SRT chargers/challengers, etc. None of us live on a racetrack and going stoplight racing is about as close as we get to a racetrack for the majority of people.

Edit: FWIW, a M4 convertible also weighs 4000lbs.

I agree, and that's the best point....cars like this make things great...they show other manufacturers that one MIGHT like, that hey, build a stupidly ridiculous car, and people will buy it. For the enthusiast, cars like these are very important, otherwise, manufacturers become honda/toyota, that build beige appliances....which is fine for when someone wants an appliance, but sucks when someone wants something to have a good time. Obviously I've never driven this thing, but have driven a couple of hellcats, and if you don't have a stupid grin ear to ear when you stomp on a hellcat, you're dead inside.

At the end of the day appliances keep the lights on for every car company. At this point, the vast majority of 320i's, 328i's, 528i's, C300's etc are all appliances to the same degree as a base model Accord. They are used for basic transportation by the masses but the sales of those are what funds the programs to develop the M3/4, M5, AMG models, Civic Type R, and whatever Toyota will maybe someday sell us.

If the Hellcat and Demon aren't for you, that's totally fine. But for every person that hates those cars, there's another that hates the implied pretentious doucheyness of the euro sports cars.

Of course, I don't deny that appliances are necessary, I was speaking on behalf of car guys.....the fact that cars like these are made makes things great for all of us, even if we don't particularly like this particular car....the existence of it helps us.

Yeah, if I'm paying $130k for a car, it's going to be something more like this than a Dodge..

Yea, I didn't see anything about price, it's also probably going to end up going to people that can afford multiple 100K cars.

That one's a little too common...depending where you live. My brother had a white one for about a year, said it was boring and every other owner he saw in one was a chick. lol. This is Ferrari's SLK.
