Just noticed I have an oil leak and there's very little oil in car could that be a reason it won't start?I mean it's not even registering on dipstick

Crank case holds 7 qts, very bottom of the stick would be still be over 5. Camshaft faults could be a problem.

From what I've read it's gotta be either that or I jumped time somehow

Does it seem to spin over faster than usual? Maybe a teaspoon of oil down each spark plug hole might help. All the gas washed the cylinders down and your compression might be low. Saw it work on an old high mileage Volvo that wouldn't start during a cold spell. Just a thought.

I don't feel like it does but it could be possible....I was reading that low oil pressure effs with the vanos and will make cams over|advanced retarded and that the vanos needs oil to operate so it could be a oil flow issue which would make sense because it's so low

The vanos controls the cams from what Ive read and both threw codes I guess that's the next logical step.....while checking fuses in dme I dropped a 30 down inside the box it's h ok used in. FML one thing after another

The cams are controlled with oil pressure and you're not generating any. I thought the cams were retarded and advanced as needed? http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...ble_vanos.html

About the low oil? I don't think the vanos operates at cranking speeds.

Not sure about cranking speeds but I watched a video about how vanos works and it does work at low speeds but it didn't specify about cranking speeds

Please explain in proper English how you went from a properly running car to a car that will not start?

I don't know, I'm just guessing. Is there a fuse for the Vanos solenoid circuit?

Ok here we go lol......Ik car has an oil leak somewhere I can't see so sometimes it gets pretty low before I realize and fill with me and my gf driving it separately. I stopped at stop sign and the car stalled.it started up but wouldn't stay running. I coasted down a hill and was able to park on street. I started the car up. Seemed to idle fine but when I went to drive (5 spd manual) soon as I let clutch out it would stall under load. If I had clutch halfway in and revved the piss out of it it would go but not more than say 15mph. Finally it stooped at a gas station and just wouldn't move. 8t would idle fine but as soon as i would put it in gear it would stall so it set there for like a week.....meanwhile it threw 4 codes: p0012 A camshaft position timing over retarded bank 1 p0015 B camshaft position timing over retarded p0340 camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1 or single sensor and p0102 Maass or volume air flow A circuit low. My dad (lol) was convinced it was fuel filter so I got and changed it. Wouldn't start. Then I bought the camshaft position sensor intake side (Cu that's what it called for) still won't start....it's been a cpl months at this point and hasn't started since I changed stuff

Bad fuel pump? Is the original pump still in?

Stalling at a stop sign and stumbling under low load / low rpms is how mine went out.

Fair enough. I can't be sure of course, but something to keep in mind. When mine failed, it vacillated from normal operation to low end stumbling and then back to normal for a time before finally giving up the ghost in the middle of a stop sign intersection.
