I have a crappy old stand still-video, from first start up Doesn't do it justice, at all. Acceleration is something else Think it's the best sounding one out there. But I do like akraprovic on newer BMWs.

It snarls like a muscle car, on lower rpms and screams when you floor it. And it's not just bass that ruins the experience, especially on longer drives. Quite cultivated, when you want it to be. I simply love this piece of art.

Everything but rear silencer and supercharger are stock parts. It's a daily driver afterall.

Thank you I think getting rid of the small resonator and some headers would top it off nicely

The original plan was to get an E92 M3 or 1M, and then we decided to get the E92, and then we decided to wait a couple of years and buy a house first. So going for something cheaper and older. Been watching a 2001 E39 with a V8 and a manual tranny. All the cosmetic work is done, so just need to maintain it. He is holding it for me, until I sell mine. He said it was headed for winter storage and would hold it for me, since I was a fellow enthusiast, so I have a few months to get rid of mine. It will be a sad day, but I'm also looking forward to owning a V8 and "comfort seats." But I will be back in an even faster 3 or 4-series coupé in a couple of years

Thanks guys! Nice to see some activity here

The E39 is almost in show condition, but need some paint on lower part of one door and repaint the shadowline trim.
Other than that it looks nice. Just need some tint on windows, a zhp knob and a satnav screen. Really hope I get my hands on it

New owner picks the car up in a couple of days. Got the car back from paint on saturday, and today was sunny, so I got to take it for a spin and take some pictures So with these, I end this thread. It's been a good run.

Had a small photoshoot a while back. Used my BMWscanner to turn on "US-Look" (front turn signals always on), but after 1 day, I got pulled over while driving to work and was told to "turn them off" or else they would have my license plates. Haha.

A couple of weeks back, I sent my car to a detailer. It was a 2-step polish and it got 30 hours of pampering and a finish with Svissvax Shield.

Also had some other changes recently. First off I swapped interior mirror to one with compass and thermometer display, and I got some individual RMP Di Savioni matte silver interior trim (looks like regular silver, until you compare them ) Previously there was a brushed brass interior trim installed, which I didn't like at all. Sat nav might look better, but sound isn't good enough, so installed a "hidden" Kenwood KDC-BT39dab 1-din. While installing:

And recently I covered the doors with Ground Zero sound insulation, and installed Focal PS130 Flax mid/bass+tweeter:

I also had a guy from the Norwegian BMW forum build me a custom subwoofer, after my design, speaker and material wishes (he's a professional builder and an entrepreneur)
Inside is a 15" Ground Zero woofer, RGB LEDs with remote control and black alcantara fabric. Outside is covered with a dark fabric, similar to the fabric in the trunk. Diagonal rear wall to match seat back, and a thick Plexiglas in front.

By the way! All pictures of the M5 are on 8,5x18" M5/Style 65 reps and winter tires (recently swapped to Nokian Hakka R2 studless tires), so that's why they look so narrow/slim. The original style 65 wheels are currently in shop for restoration and powder coating. They will be fitted with Michelin PSS 245/40 and 275/35 tires in spring.

Thank you After detailing and new interior trim, it definitely got in better shape overall

Today me and a friend drove up a mountain and found some snow. His car is an E38 740i. Had a blast, some drifting on mountain roads and a small photo shoot.
Both are on winter wheels/tires.

And some from the other day (dirty):

Not much happening atm. Bought some style 37s which will be arriving soon. Planning on tinting windows with a very light tint.
Also thinking about x-pipe and supersprint mufflers. H&R 25/25 springs are in a box in my cellar, waiting for install

Thanks

Got a steering wheel with new leather the other day. Perforated on sides, regular leather on top/bottom and M-stitching. Too bad my car is 2 months too old for retrofitting the facelift steering wheel (with everything working) This will have to do. Haha.
This is a 01.1999 model.
