It's alive(ish)!

Warmed up the car on the DME.

Prepped the existing tune I had as best I could (tried to fix the injector linearization a bit, but that didn't work so well)...Started it with the DME on ignition and the Motec on fuel....starts, but with 324 degree offset sounds worse then 29 degree...well, it's running...switch ignition over to Motec...No start..Hmm...Add 360...684 degree offset, and...START.

It's just idling, but it shows that my harness works, which I was worried about for a bit...

I'm silly - I totally missed in the help for the injector linearization data input, that if you remove the output pulse volume, it becomes a simple dead time compensation table like everyone else. I already have the data from the MS45 thanks to Nick, so I set that up, and I will try it on Mass Air tomorrow. (The calculated pulse widths looked correct at first glance). Should work fine. Will update after testing.

MAJOR success:

Car seems to drive just fine (I drove it down the street and back), and starts up just fine. VE based startup for the win!

I'm very happy right now.

Last night I tried to see where a hole in the passenger side of the engine compartment went. I thought it led to the ground, but it looks like the splash guard (I think they have a funny name but I can't recall) is where it leads to...which means harder routing for the harness to go to the Ethanol Content sensor, and the O2 sensor.

Fun times.

Anyone know what that hole was originally for? Brake lines?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of wiring being the lowest point of the car. Have a look at using a gromit to run wires through the top/side of that compartment, under the HVAC filter box, then dropping them "down" to the sensor locations.

I've already done something like this for some vacuum lines:

Ah. I was hoping it would save some wiring length, but it does not sound worth it.

The good news is the only ones I think that would be affected here are the ethanol and o2 sensor. Not sure if oil pressure would route the same way. I will definitely talk to Mike about all this tomorrow.

On another note, I have figured out how to make build not complain when moving to the latest modules of everything (still excluding VCS).

Ethanol content sensor needs to be purchased - the kind Mike had was the old style which did not go 'inline', thus would not be easy to mount. Should have that soon.
Injectors (one old,one new) will be sent out to be flowed tomorrow so Nick can get the calibration updated by Monday or Tuesday.
At least some of the sensors will be installed tomorrow.
I'm thinking the wire I have for the LTC will not be long enough.

So most of the stuff is in, just some details:
Still missing pigtail harness for Ethanol Content sensor
Clutch actuator needs to be bled
..annnd the DME went stupid in the middle of the flash, so down to FL it went. I should have the car by Thursday afternoon.

Adam, I cannot imagine your projects if you had unlimited time and unlimited Money. You would establish a custom / limited edition manufacturing factory with "excellent" individual vehicles.

Mdrobnak, I follow your Project with pleasure. Do you keep DME to run SMG?

Until I totally understand what the output from the SMG/SSG controller is, that's definitely the case.

Even after, I need it because of emissions tests in NY.

Hi Matt

Was there much external difference between the old and new clutch actuator? Keen to hear the results.

Not sure - Mike said they're pretty much exactly the same... I asked him to take pics, not sure if that happened.

That is promising, the internal bore and piston should be bigger, which wouldn't equate to a big external difference. Maybe a little less machined from the flat where the sensor attaches.

I did not get a good pic, only one of them. I will post that, but it's not very useful. Kinda annoyed about that. At least they say they have measurements for all the wiring they put in, so that's a plus.

The upside is, injectors seem to be good with the new calibration, and Billy at Maximum PSI says it seems to shudder less now.

I will be wiring up the O2 sensor at minimum, and then driving it home, where I will clean things up a bit this weekend.
