Sat in the Miata RF at the auto show yesterday. It's pretty nice and actually quite spacious, relatively, on the inside. Though it's slower still with the extra weight of the retractable top.

IF they ever do make another S2k, I hope it's a hardtop vert or something like the RF. Such a cool T-top. If it were 100 more HP I might actually think about getting one...

I'd be ok with a Corvette or NSX-T targa style top. Lightweight and hard top. Best of both worlds. If they do it again I bet it'll be a soft top though. Maybe with the hard top option or something.

The RF looks awesome. Wonder how difficult it'd be to mod it so you can get the addt'l 100hp needed. Mazda making the Miata with only 155hp is shameful.

$6,000...

Quote:
At 3.5PSI ( lowest base pressure) on pump gas 91 we have made 210rwhp/223rwtq with OEM cat
6 PSI with OEM cat made 215rwhp/235rwtq
8/9 psi made 231rwhp/231rwtq with an open midpipe( no cat-recommend for track use)
10 psi made 235rwhp/238rwtq with an open midpipe( no cat-recommend for track use)
https://www.turbosource.com/TurboSou...-tsndturbo.htm

So you can spend $30k on the RF and $6,000 on turbo for 215whp...

Or you can buy an s2000 for $15k and spend $6,000 on the KWV2 SC and make 400whp.

If it really takes $6K to make give the Miata respectable power that is even more shameful on Mazda for not making one with a set of balls. Almost every manufacturer nowadays is putting out performance versions of their models so why not Mazda?

Because they can make infinity dollars more by selling 100k crossovers than 5 performance Miatas every year. We should all be glad that the car exists at all, let alone being a performance model.

I'd forsee a Mazdaspeed CX-5 before we see a performance Miata.

Is it not known that Miata drivers don't care about power? I was under the impression that the old school ones were awesome to drive, and had literally the perfect amount of power for that size car. Those guys don't just look at power numbers. Didn't hear Jay Leno whine about power when he was raving about his.

I've been toying with the idea of a different car and the S2K is on the list. I probably would only have it for a few years, DD it, and sell it for (likely) very little difference in value.

If you want an AP2 with low (less than 50k) miles and in good to excellent condition, prepare for low to mid 20's. If you want a laguna blue example, add $3k-$4k to that number just because. If you want a late run 07-08 model, add some more. If you want a CR then plan on $30k-$35k at least.

OUCH, you sold a Laguna with low miles?

That's like wrangling a unicorn and then trading it for a rock.

So you sold an appreciating car for a rapidly depreciating one and are ok with it? I'd be fvckin pissed.

You basically gave that car away btw.

I can live with myself. Sold it around 2010. I bought brooklyn real estate instead, my first home then. The property price appreciation, if i were to sell now, can buy me many s2k's.

I think my mistake was not consulting the forum before making a major financial decision. Lesson learned
