Car starting problems

I drive a 2001 325xi and my car had no problems and was running fine when I parked it. I came back a few hours later and the car would not start just turned over until the battery was dead. So I pushed it in my shop and put a battery charger on it. In the morning it fired up fine no problems so I went a filled it with gas and parked it back in front of my shop again. After it sat for a few hours I came back out and tried starting it and all it did was turn over. So I thought maybe my fuel pump was going bad so I put the key in and turned it to the #2 position for a few second and tried starting it and it fired right up. I figured I probably shouldn't drive it so I left it parked tried starting it today and it fired up right away then a few hours later I tried and all it would do was turn over even if I put the key to position 2 for a few second any thoughts on what it could be I'm thinking maybe fuel pump or filter but am not sure please help!!

Sounds like the classic fuel pump failure. They often intermittently fail up until total failure. If you don't know when it was last changed just replace it, or you'll be stranded soon. They're easy to replace. I'd get the OE Siemens/VDO brand from fcpeuro.com and pick up a clamp or two if needed.
