Installed an overrun alternator pulley today (see this thread here: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=806821). Its slightly larger than the stock pulley so there's a slight underdrive effect too.

And, reinstalled the Turner power pulley kit too (the waterpump and power steering pulleys). With the TS2 kit this required a Gates K060760 or 6PK1928 belt.

Developed a small vacuum leak that was causing some rough cold starts and occasional hunting idle. Found it:

Re-seated the ESS supercharger's bypass valve hose and straightened the hose clamps:

Runs flawlessly again.

I love driving this car.

Beauty shot from work the other day:

Love your car!

How do you like your Pilot Super Sports? I'm really leaning towards getting those.

Is the Wavetrac LSD DIY'able? The open diff is not cutting it for me and I don't want to weld it

Also, did you feel any difference with the power pulley kit?

I painted the front lower grille because it was going grey. That's when I realized there was a removable plastic "duct" that clips to the back of that grille. It was basically covering up the top 30% of my intercooler. I thought that was just how it was supposed to be. Removed that and it really opened things up nicely, should get lots of fresh air through there now and better cooling on these hot days

Thanks!

I LOVE my PSS. I ran Conti DW's for probably 5 years and I can't believe what I was missing. Car drives like it is on rails now. I won't go back, the PSS are worth the premium. I was able to get a set of 4 installed for about $900 through discount tire.

I dont think the wavetrac is a DIY thing. The issue is shims if the backlash isn't right going straight in. There are only a few places in the country that are good at swapping diff internals for the e46, because they either make their own shims or have been scavenging from junk yards to build up a small stockpile. Mine was installed by Diffsonline through Turner Motorsport (yes, I drove all the way out to Boston to get it done, I'm crazy like that).

I totally feel a differnece with the power pulleys. I want to dyno soon to prove it. But since I installed the TS2 I went back to stock pulleys. Ran that way for about a year. And then decided to put the power pulleys back on, and it really woke the car up. It really feels like it rips to redline, it feels... eager. It WANTS to rev. Thats the best way I know how to put it.

What do you mean that the car seems as if it drives on rails? Do you experience tramlining with those tires?

Steering response is immediate and direct. The car does exactly what you want it to. Minimal tram lining on the most rutted pavement. Barely more than the Conti DW's. My old dunlop dirreza star specs tram lined all over the place. These aren't like that.

Definitely not! And I don't plan to try either. The Michelin PSS are summer performance tires. And my car is a summer-only car

The only thing remotely good in the snow would be an all season tire, or better yet a dedicated snow tire.

Gotcha, the tires I have on now are all seasons apparently. Bridgestone Potenzas in the front and Michelin Primacys in the rear

I developed a small leak in the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line, the rubber ends had deteriated enough that they cracked open. Symptoms were rough cold starts, a slightly shaky idle, poor gas mileage (19mpg vs the normal 21mpg), and car felt down on power. I think I accelerated the problem when I pulled that line to do a vacuum test a week or two ago. Its definitely a newer issue. I replaced the hose and car runs strong and smooth again.

Also, this arrived today

Yes sir! It's new though, as of like 5k miles ago. I'm hoping the overrunning alternator pulley it will help keep me safe too.

I'm not sure what I'll replace it with. The ATI damper is like $1000 which is crazy, and a stock part will just fail again eventually. I've got some inquiries into BHJ to see if they could make a balancer and sell it at an affordable price point. I guess we'll see. I'll probably end up with another stock damper if that doesn't pan out.
I feel compelled to update this because my previous post could mislead someone.

According to this, the picture I posted of my balancer/damper is normal
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...4#post14617524

I am left not knowing how to tell if the damper is no longer functioning 100%, other than to "guess" based on age and driving style.

However, I'm glad I replaced my stock damper with the ATI super damper based on the age and mileage of my car, how hard I have been driving the car now that it is supercharged, and the chance that it might prevent an oil pump nut failure in the future.
