Hey guys I've been searching the great web of threads we have here and I can't seem to find a good answer to my fitment questions.
Here is my setup and what I'm looking to do.
2003 E46 330Ci (sport, premium, cold weather packages)
Bilstein Sport shocks/struts
H&R (red) Race Springs
dealership aligned after lowering
Current tire size is a 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport on OEM wheels
NEW SETUP
I'm looking to put on a set of Alzor Style 730 19x9 ET35 wheels on the car with the widest tires I can fit on a SQUARE setup that will look really good without doing any major fender work and not mess up my speedo. There is also a 19x8 square setup option but the wheels would seems to skinny I think? HELP!! Ill be posting pictures of the car with them on if I get this right
Well if you're running a square setup than the front tire width will be what limits you. I'm thinking 235/35 will be about as wide as you can go up front on 19's with +35 but I can't speak to how that applies specifically to your suspension setup, I'd actually be surprised if you had no rubbing, that would be what I'd say for upper limits on stock suspension. I don't think 19x8 is going to offer much of a benefit and will look skinny. Personally I'd go 18x9 instead of 19, that's just me.
In all honesty just some 15mm spacers in the rear and 10mm spacers up front would make a big difference in the look of your car, going by the pictures, without the expense of new wheels. The other thing I would say about the Alzors you are looking at is that there is a lot of open space to accentuate your puney brakes if you're running a stock setup.
yeah I was thinking the same with the 235's all around on 19x9 et35 wheels. the wheels will be pretty cheap compared others so thats why I'm considering them. Especially to give it a new look with the lower suspension setup. Although I have to agree even though my brakes from factory are bigger than the base models they still will look smaller with the open 19's. Hopefully a future upgrade I'll keep in mind.
ecs claims on their website the 19x8 will fit e46 ...but I'm hoping the 19x9 will too without modifications. website says it fits e90 and above, does not mention e46.
I had a hell of a time getting 19x9 fronts to work with KW V3 back in the day, before I had custom fender work done.
I would suggest sticking with 8.5" up front and either 9 or 9.5 in the back, and use spacers if you absolutely must have a flush look.
Tire size, I run staggered wheels because of the need for traction (hence the custom fenders), but I also try to keep the delta between the front and rear widths as small as reasonably possible. I also don't like running super stretched tires, as it's harmful to performance and I prefer to have the best looks possible while increasing performance or at the very least not changing it.
I would run 235's on the front and 255's on the rear, assuming 8.5/9.5, as any more of a stretch negativity impacts handling (at least for my setups), and it's still just enough to rreduce the risk of rubbing.
Still taking opinions...if anyone here has had 19x9 front and back Im really looking to see what size tire is good for that..I dont want to stretch it too much because of the performance sacrifice.
Any suggestions on other wheel sets in about the same area of pricing and sizes??
