Sorry if im in the wrong place. Im new to this website. But I have a 2002 325i with 150,000+ miles and I am wanting to swap the 2.5 out and run more power, but stay in bmw motors. Any ideas?
This is the Spec E46 forum and the only engine allowed in this class is the regular M54B30. You may want to post in the general engine tuning forum.
You didn't mention your budget and whether you're swapping by yourself or paying a shop to do it. To me, engine swap won't make sense unless:
- Your current engine is blown
- You are doing this by yourself or paying relatively cheap labor
- You investigated significant amount of money on everything else that replacing engine is cheaper than selling your car and buy a better one.
If you're only looking for more power, by how much more? 20 more is quite achieveable by some bolt-ons and tune. For 80 more you can also look into force induction.
