My Ride: 2002 325i Manual
Cold start sound 325i no power issues

Today it finally hit below freezing in Maryland. My 2002 325i is in a garage so it's not as cold. When I started her up today, it started just as fast as regular but with a sound I can only deacribe as a fan blowing at full blast. Its was very sudden as she drove fine with no sounds yesterday.

I took a short video but I would like to see if you guys can figure it out. I drove it to my school with no power issues, got to operating temperature for about 15min and the sound didn't dissapear when I got to school.

I have had some issues with this mishimoto intakw boot but the seals have been hanging on, is it possible it can be a leaking intake? I didn't get any codes so it isnt running lean.

It got much worse. I made sure the intake boot was on right. It sounds like a bearing on something with the serpentine belt. Not driving it anymore till I figure it out

If the noise stops in 90 seconds or less, then the SAP pump may be the source of the problem. You could unplug the SAP to isolate this if you suspect this as the noise source.

Otherwise pulley or idler bearings may be the cause?
