i was gonna make my own tool but was wondering if someone can provide a scan or a picture with some measurements of the holes that hold the fan. i know one is 32 mm but what is the one with the nuts like this picture
Just out of curiosity doesn't the e46 use an electric fan? I know my e30 uses a viscous clutch I just replaced it, but my 325ci has an electric fan, and no I'm not talking about the aux fan.
The top tool you have pictured has the notch to clear the shaft and the holes/slots to fit over a pair of the bolt heads so the pulley doesn't turn, allowing you to turn the 32mm nut on the fan clutch. The same thing can be achieved with a long screwdriver shaft, but not as elegantly!
