2002 325ci AUTOMATIC:
I was driving through town yesterday trying to show my brother how i'm going to remove my wood trim and rewrap it with some sort of black vinyl wrap (I realize this comment alone may bring some heated responses). I pulled up on the (automatic) shift boot to show him how easy the trim around the shifter is to take out. Upon doing so i broke the little plastic "ring" that holds the boot (fabric/leather) to the part that lists what gear I'm in (part that pops out without unscrewing anything). Not sure what this ring is called, where I can get one, or how much it will cost. I'm at work now and will probably do some research on it when I get home but wanted to throw this out there to see if anybody has had this happen to them as well or had any insight on my situation. If I need to post pics I'll try to have them up by tomorrow. I've kind of rigged it up now where everything stays in place for the moment but it still bugs me that this piece is broken underneath. :hmm:
