Purchasing 330i

Hello!

I am about to purchase my first e46 (I eventually want an E46 M3). I also own a 2013 328i (f30) and briefly owned a 2000 528i (e39). I'm very excited as this will be my first manual car. I'm currently learning how to drive manual with a friend.
Anyways...It's a 2003 330i and I have a few questions.

1. Can anybody identify from the photo if it has the zhp package or not? I've read that I'll be able to identify a zhp by the redline being at 6800, etc...I'll know for sure in person when I look at it again.

2. Paint suggestions? I'm not crazy about the paint job right now. At first I was thinking about going all black but I already have a black on black bimmer so I'm looking to do something a bit different.

I'll post again in more detail (how much I paid, mileage, etc) once I secure the vehicle.

The wheels and window trim certainly look the part. Whats up with the white? Is it vinyl and will it peel off?

The gauge needles will be red and the shifter should have an M logo. I don't remember if there is a site where you can punch in the VIN and have it spit out the factory option packages...I'm sure others will chime in.

Unless your getting a steal (like $3k or less, seriously). Buy another car that isn't riced up. An owner that paints the hood like that has questionable decision making skills.

Spend your money on the right car, not the repairs on the wrong car.

Thanks for the feedback! I plan to buy it for right around that amount - if everything checks out. Now that you bring it up, I really do hope that it is vinyl and can peel off. The white runs all they way to the trunk :/ My friend purchased it like this from the previous owner and never got around to changing it. He Has 3 cars (2 330s) and is moving out of state soon so he's unloading this one.

I don't call that car riced up just another reason people need to stay away from plastic dip but have the car checked out by a mechanic. Standard car buying rules applies. +1 to above on how to identify a ZHP

Get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) from a reputable Indy in your area. I can't stress enough how important this is, it will save your ass and pending results you can have some wiggle room on purchase price.

Thanks! I was gonna have to wait to see it in person again but using this I just confirmed that it does indeed have the zhp package.

More than confirming ZHP package, you need to confirm if the white is plastidip or vinyl. If it's real paint then don't buy that unless you want to live with it. If it's vinyl or plastidip it should be removable with some effort.

Quoted for truth. A paint job would be wicked expensive and not worth it. It is THAT bad.

Thanks for feedback! But zhp pack was more important to me as I will be re-painting the entire car anyway. I just hope it's vinyl for the week or 2 that I'll have it before getting the paint job.

Why paint over BMW paint that is very good?

Anyway a nice paint job is extremely expensive...

I don't like the paint job that it has right now.
Also Paint job cost won't be an issue for me. This is my 3rd vehicle that I'm getting for cheap & will be more of a project/fun car.

Forgot that you responded earlier! It should also be noted that even if the white is vinyl and comes off, the black paint will also need work as well. From what I saw, i already know I'd like to do some touching up to the body, etc.

I mean if the color is worth repainting for, then you ought to just look for another car...
