Anyone need a an HKS GTS 8550 Supercharger?

Hey all,

I started down this road a few years ago but got side tracked by another project car. But I'm back to it this season. Going to be putting a different S/C on the E46 and wanted to see if I could offset some expense by selling the old bits. The S/C may have 5k miles on it. That's probably a high estimate. It also comes with the AA oil cooler reservoir (not the cooler itself I'm re-using that). Also have the Bosch green (42lb) injectors. Same mileage. They're still on the car but I'll be removing them shortly - can accept a deposit or a virtual handshake for "dibs" when I do this

Offers?

People might lowball if you don't have a set price? What are you looking for? Its an HKS, so probably out of my price range.

You make a good point. The only price reference I can find in the states is Vivid racing; which sells them for $3,325. I'd be happy to get $1500 out of it since I know it's a rather specialty item. It is pretty much brand new. I drive this car on occasional weekends in the summer when I'm in town.

I wish you were around when my GTS8550 blower seized. I ended up having to upgrade to a new Rotrex C38-92 blower (at a considerable expense). For what you're asking, it's a very reasonable price for a low mileage blower. Good luck with your sale!

Out of curiosity, did you change injectors as well? I think they're pushing the new 60lb injectors instead of the 42lb ones they used to use.

I'm using the blue injectors that originally came with it. It was verified by AA to be OK for use with the C38-92. The other item that was required was a 340lph fuel pump, and an updated tune.

That's a decent price. Hope it gets picked up soon. I'm unlucky enough to be broke right now. Otherwise it sounds like a good deal to me. Good luck!

Sorry to hear your blower seized. What were the symptoms when that happened?

Kevin,

I had absolutely 0 symptoms of any impending failure. I hadn't driven my car for a week. Went to start it up one evening, and i turned the ignition, it cranked over and ran for about 2 or 3 seconds. Immediately the engine just slowed down and came to a stop. I quickly shut out off, thinking I had forgotten a towel or something in the engine bay and it got caught or something.

After diagnosing various things, the conclusion was that the engine couldnt turn over because the supercharger was seized. Sure enough, when I removed the belts, I couldnt turn the pulley on the hks blower at all. I have no Idea why it seized. It had plenty of traction fluid in the reservoir at the time. Possibly, it was dirty. I did not follow the change interval every 2 years. I will be doing that forsure, going forward with the rotrex.
