Many moons ago I had a pepsi GMT, loved it, the pepsi sub is awesome as well, although the look is slightly different with the ceramic...it's much brighter. I kind of wish they made a red face/red bezel submariner, would be killer, similar to this, only with the ceramic bezel

(note, this is just a google image, the watch actually looks fake AF, just using it for illustration purposes)

Can you link me to the one you have been eyeing?

Went to a watch store today to browse, lol.
Some great JLC's, Omega's and Hublots, some crazy Urwerks and Devons...nice selection of watchmakers, about 20.

Was looking at Bell & Ross, Omega's and Glashutte Originals.

I never got the obsession with hublots, seems like the ultimate fad watch, buts that's just me.

Its a fantastic study in branding and marketing. They really did a great job in reviving an old and tired brand making it into what it is today.

They have some nice models but I would never drop 10-20K on a brand that literally comes out with a new "limited edition" model every week.

If you ever go on the Hublot forms though, the company's CEO (or his agents) are very active online and welcome people personally to the brand when they buy new/used watches. Petty cool touch.

so i stopped by rodeo drive and visited IWC and JLC stores
also stopped by Geary to see if there was a Rolex Daytona stainless steel...
to be told that someone has been waiting for a year to get one

i know nothing about rolex

anyway here are some photos

the one that started it all
the IWC portuguese chronograph
blue on blue

thoughts on this limited edition IWC da vinci?
really caught my eye
but i think it might be a little too much
it won't be the classic and timeless timepiece i am looking for
(but it matches my car color )
https://www.iwc.com/en/collection/davinci/IW3934/
only 1500 made

[/url]
this one looks great
but the first IWC portuguese feels a lot better on my wrist

the IWC P with the yellow accents and brown strap to mix it up

saw these 2 at JLC
39mm feels a little small after trying on 41-42mm watches

i also tried on the deep sea chronograph
there was only the 44mm ceramic case one, no 42mm SS
the 42mm SS is not available in the US at all
looks great
but not sure about it

That Davinci is beautiful, just not worth 13k IMHO. The JLC's look a bit too "classic" (nice way of saying old and dated) with those triangular hour markers and the slightly bubbled glass, although I realize that may be someone's style. The davinci is very sexy, but you can have a Ulysse Nardin for half the price with a similar look....

The Ulysse don't speak to me at all

Yes, The two JLC's above ... disappointed after seeing in person
The IWC p is beautiful and feels good
I think I will get tired of the IWC da vinci with the blue face

The JLC deep sea chronograph looks good ... But is it worth $7000+?
I am going to be selecting between 2 very different styles of watches

I was just illustrating the inflated price factor, I do think the Davinci is beautiful and would rock it any day of the week, I just personally think that IWC generally is a bit of an inflated brand price wise. They are basically in the Omega class, but charge like they are in the AP+ class.

That is my feeling as well
With my limited knowledge and experience with watches

But ... damn
IWC makes some beautiful watches
And still has history

I am going back to JLC to try on the deep sea vintage ...
And then make my decision

Have a feeling I am going to end up with the IWC p though

This to me is a supremely beautiful watch and worth the around the 10k price tag,
https://www.prestigetime.com/item/Ul...FcWFswodR4oDlg

or this
http://www.jomashop.com/ulysse-nardi...53-66-314.html

A lot of gorgeous Ulysse models can be had for that 6k mark which IMHO is a great deal for a truly unique connoisseur watch. Having said that, I understand if it's not your cup of tea of course, no matter how awesome the watch is, if it's not your thing then it's not your thing.

I would go with Rolex. Steel sports Rolex. It's the only brand that holds value.

Limited edition is just a marketing ploy. They will have another limited edition right after. I think anything limited edition will only bring down the value because it makes the watch less iconic and less desirable later on. What is the best Speedmaster? The original or one of many limited editions they did?

For these 2 39mm JLC timepieces did u happen to take note the lug width i.e. strap size? 19, 20 or 21mm?

Are you dead set on buying new or would you consider used? Out of curiosity i took a look over at chrono24 and from what i'm seeing, you can get some good deals on IWC.

I love the white face/blue leather strap Portugese. IIRS they have a chono and a power meter model that are both (retail) north of $10k, especially the power meter model.

Used is often where you find the best deals, let the original owner take the hit.
