Need to do brakes soon. What are your thoughts on these pads & rotors? I'm looking for something that has good bite but less dust than OEM

Rotors

Both pads will cause OEM or higher dust levels. I'd personally go with the Brembo blanks.

overall i'd go with brembo blanks and textar pads. no need for the slots. however it is probably a decent product.

keep in mind Textar 330 fronts are known to squeak so this could affect you if the pads are similar size as 330 (I forget if they are) but things could've changed since a few years ago.

i'd go ATE or Jurid if you can find them.

first one i'd guess your mirror met some unnatural resistance when tilting? or something up with the motor some how. does it work?

i've seen all sorts of errors on many E46s, mostly shadow codes, but the thing the code is for still works fine. If it works, don't worry!

second one i dont know. sorry. chalk these up to e46 gon' e46. you'll go crazy if you constantly search for shadow faults. cause everything will shadow misbehave

330 brakes are bigger than 328 from my understanding. I heard good things about all of these brands. I just don't want to sacrifice bite but if I can find a good balance between that and low dust, then that would be great

You really might as well just get 330 upgrades while you're here. A good test for me is (for autos): Where is your foot on the brake pedal, height wise, in relation to the gas pedal?

A good test for bite is to share how far the minimum distance your foot is depressed on the brake pedal (in relation to the gas pedal) to keep the car from rolling.

Separate fact: you should go with 330 brakes if changing your setup

Yeah I got distracted mid reply last time

not sure i'd bother with tracking down used calipers/bleeding brakes if you just need some pads and rotors. you'll be happy with refreshed components. the 330 brakes are barely bigger

I'll try to measure that. You mean when at a red light the minimum pressure needed to keep the car from rolling?

330 brakes are 325mm front and 320mm rear whereas the 328 brakes are 300mm front and 294mm rear. I feel like that is a noticeable difference

Thread: small/simple/dumb questions

From what I gathered when I looked into doing this swap, the fronts are pretty straightforward in that you just need to change the calipers and brackets to go along with the larger pads and rotors. But the rear requires that you change the hub, axle, bearing and the entire trailing arm if you want the parking brake to work.

I know several people who swear by akebono pads for minimizing brake dust while maintaining OE performance. I stuck with OE all the way around because it wasn't worth the hassle of sourcing everything for a minimal increase in braking.

Engine coolant or outside temp? Check to see if the temp sensor is damaged...

On another note, at what interval should the DISA valve be rebuilt? I'm pretty sure I have 200K on my original one...

Both Engine temp and outside temp are acting up . We're is the outside thermostat or how would I search for it on you tube . Not sure I got my vamps seal and anti rattle kit done at 195,554. And I have 205,300 now . I also get code p0011 . But I already changed the sensor closest to the pasanger side wheel next to the second dart air pump is that the one that this code belongs to .

Shots fired lol. But yes, at a red light on flat land. Easy way to compare since they will all be the same amount of force so it's easy to compare bite. Don't need a ruler measurement, just a "smudge" or "lot" above or below the gas
