We did a story about the new CR-Z last week as well: http://www.guysgab.com/next-generati...of-2-0l-turbo/

Along with a sick rendering from a car mag in Japan: (sorry for the size)
[BIG. PICTURE.]

If they get this right, I'm definitely a buyer!
I remember seeing that rendering and, frankly, I am very, VERY okay with it. If the rumors are true about that 2.0L turbo, then the CR-Z will be something it should have been from the start. They'll sell like hot cakes if they appeal to the right crowd. Such a shame it's still FWD, though.

There are enough Honda fanboys that now have money that would be more than happy to plunk down $35k or whatever for a CTR.

dat interior doe. Bro, dat interior nomsayin?

I hope you're right and also hope that it ends up looking like that. The current CRZ is an epic fail on any measurable level.
I'm pretty certain the CR-Z will fly off the lots if it does get a bump in power and better styling. However, if Honda would ever make a decent RWD sports car again, with their engines and (obviously amazing) suspension technologies today, it would absolutely slaughter the competition.

most likely what we'll see is just s sh!t ton of Civic EX's with JDMASFVCK stickers and CTR-style unpainted fiberglass body panels.

Same way a 323i can dominate all. Beats it in the twisteez.

In all seriousness, there's a lot more that goes into a car like this than the engine power and I hope you're good enough of an engineer to know that.

The CTR is lighter, shorter wheelbase, less unsprung weight, etc that all help it more. Also, if the drivetrain efficiency is better, then more of that 300hp reaches the pavement.

Also, not sure how you can't believe the time, they posted a fvcking video. If those other cars weren't as fast because they didn't drive them hard then that's their problem.

I just don't see how it could beat a Porsche GT3. It has more "everything". More rubber, more power, bigger brakes, stiffer chassis (likely), etc. It just doesn't add up to me. I know there's a video.

I'd buy one if it didn't look so gaudy. Same reason I hesitate to buy an STi. Great cars, just no class.

Maybe even the Cayman? The Cayman is the definition of the segment. The 370Z weighs about as much as a 3 series.

So true.

You could almost say the same for the Toyobaru that was supposed to "save us from the lack of cool sports cars" or whatever. Lots of show, very little go. Still fun to drive, though.
