I honestly have not been on a cruise yet but I have been sold, I know people who have the means, and have traveled the world, Fiji, African Safaris, New Zealand, luxurious tours of Europe and Asia, yet their favorite way to travel is via cruise ship.

I'm just getting off a cruise ship as I write this. It was fun but I'm ready to go home. It was a fascinating people - watching opportunity, for sure.

Mostly pale old fatties from Wisconsin in ill-fitting cheap clothes and dirty white sneakers?

Celebrity is excellent for quality....but not a lot going on due to the older crowd.

I went on the Millilium and had a $500 dinner for two for $100.

Anyway, slow crowd but geared at established clients so high quality and service. Just depends on what youre looking for.

Relaxation vs Party.

This is definitely a relaxation trip, going on a royal Caribbean cruise this October in the islands which will be more of the party trip, and by partying I mean getting drunk with the lady.

She's been on cruises all over the world on all lines, swears by Celebrity and Royal Caribbean.

There was a really broad spectrum of people. I was amazed, however, at how many fat people were on the boat. I'm talking 400-plus pounds--people heavy enough that if you saw them at the mall you'd think "wow, that's a really fat person." There were dozens of them.

But there were also some really fit frat types, a whole bunch of Indians and Asians, and then a bunch of middle-aged suburban yahoos like me.

Anyone try RC's Quantum class chips? Considering booking a suite on there. Haven't done any research yet but a nice Caribbean trip out of NY in the next 12 months is a possibility.

No European cruise for me next year, booked a second Caribbean cruise for next May yesterday on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. Headed on my first cruise out of Puerto Rico this October, hope I like it since the second one is already booked.

I did not know this but the best time to book a cruise is August, got another great deal for the second one.

Are talking about buying cruise ships? Because going on one as a guest is for homeless people.

Find a deal.

GF and I are skipping xmas to go on a 7 day western Caribbean cruise. The kicker for me was I found a promotion where they give unlimited booze for 2 - totally for free, we are heavy drinkers so this saved us ~$800 alone.

Keep your eyes peeled, there are deals to be had! I booked through www.cruisesonly.com

We just booked this one - its a little more pricey due to it being Xmas, but $1300/pp for all inclusive aint a bad time.

Cruise we booked for this October was $1200 a person with booze and tips included, can't beat it, 7 night southern Caribbean.

The one for next year doesn't offer free booze packages because it's one of the newer boats but I'm going to pick it up anyway. Best deals can be found in August.

Got back from my first cruise yesterday and had a blast, was on one of Royal Caribbean's older boats that is going in to be refurbished soon but it was still very nice, granted we only spent one day on the boat and took part in some of the upgraded dining most nights, but I was very pleased and am looking forward to the next one we have booked in May.
