This January is the 3rd of 4 cruises I will be ever going on around the Caribbean. Will be paying within the next few days, so I have the invoice right here.

This one is 7 nights on Celebrity Silhouette, from Ft Lauderdale with stops Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamica, Hati. $1600 per person, this is the Aqua Class rate.

They usually run combo deals of beverage, tips and such (one two three go) they call it on their TV adverts they run. We booked while underway whilst on our last cruise with them, make it seem like we get free bevs and such.

I think of cruises like I think of buses.

They're for poor people.

Sorry but you some sound like an ass but I used to think the same, my in laws happen to be extremely well off and cruise all the time.

Sure you can book a closet of a stateroom for $500 a person and eat at the buffet every night, or you can book a nice room with a balcony, get a premium booze package, and take part in the upgraded dining and for a few grand you can eat like a king, drink top top shelf booze, and visit multiple beautiful islands all in one trip.

Sure it's a middle class way to travel but with some upgrades and spending some money it can be an awesome trip.

Celebrity is the quietist, oldest growd of cruisers in case you did not know.

Not a party line at all.

JMO...

Carnival = Booze Cruise (Chevy Malibu) Younger, lower middle class
Royal Car = Fun, Active, Party (Honda Accord) more 20s - 40s, middle class
Norweigen = Average accrossboard (Toyota Camry) middle class
Disney = High Quality, Family (Volvo Wagon) middle class
Princess = High Value, Relaxing, (Lexus ES350) older crowd, middle class
Celebrity = High Quality, Oldest Crowd (Mercedes E350) upper class

Now, with that in mind, ships vary a lot as do trips.

3 days to bahamas on old ship in summer is completely different than 14 sea, land cruise in Alaska for atmosphere.

This is what I have been told as well.

However, as mentioned, each line has different class ships so not all Royal Caribbean cruises will be the same, a 7 night Caribbean cruise on one of their 4th down the list class can be had for $1000 with a balcony room, while a similar cruise on their top of the line ship can run you $3500.

When looking into cruises you need to look at the ship as well.

Also my in laws rule of thumb:

Royal Caribbean for Caribbean cruises.
Celebrity for European cruises.

And for those who say cruises are for the low class, the in laws go on about 3 cruises a year, they are also spending the month of December in Fiji, so cruising is for all classes.

We do a company cruise every april on Carnival, and its fun and free and unlimited free booze, but its a frat party. This will be my first NCL sailing.

I think when I graduate I wanna do like a 8 night southern Caribbean cruise on Celebrity in a suite. One thing I have noticed as that Celebrity has THE BEST PRICES for balcony rooms.

NCL pioneered the single cruise thing with their cabins built for solo cruisers...if I had known about that I would done that as a single person lol. NCL is launching 2 new ships this year that I do want to see, they look massive and bad ass. Although my next cruise will probably be on Royal as I wanna go on the Oasis of the seas. It's literally like a neighborhood in the middle of the ship, and you are seated outside.
