Subframe Saga

So once I found out I needed to take care of the subframe floor in my 2000 328Ci I decided to pretty much swap anything else I could while the work was being done...I've been wanting to make a thread to show what I've done. The car is currently being finished up at the shop and will be picked up monday so I will update with pictures of my new wheels/suspension setup and details on how I went about tackling the subframe issues.

upwards of 2k or so if you include the ground control kit. that's not including the subframe repair labor of course but the body shop owner is giving me a really nice deal because i've been going to him for 2-3 years now.

Yep, better to take care of it sooner than later. I only had a small crack in one mounting point but who knows much longer the floor would've held up.

Yes, it is an older pic. I got some new wheels. They are Style 162's off the E90. I loved them.

Rear End Restoration Picture Thread

Got the car back today. Didn't get any pictures of the underside yet but here's a picture of the Mason Engineering floor support bar.

the car drives great so far however it looks like he damaged the O2 sensor when wrestling to get the exhaust off. He is going to take care of it. Currently pulling a P0141. I also think the e brake could be dragging (which he was aware that it might be possible) so unfortunately I'll be taking the car to my Indy on his behalf to check that over.

I did some ride height adjustments while I have the car so I'll get some full pics of the car up after everything has been sorted and I get it aligned.

Those two white square patches where that metal tube comes out from is where the subframe has been reinforced?

Sort of. As a part of the turner kit you go in through the trunk and do some work to the spot welds, as shown on page 4 and 5 of this PDF.

https://1c2a8a2161d644d95009-22d26b3...nforcement.pdf

The Mason bar I have installed is an extra measure of reinforcement.

took some quick photos today. there's no where cool to take pictures around where i live, so trees and leaves will have to suffice for today...

Still haven't fully dialed in the ride height on all four corners, the camber in the rear is a little excessive but i dont rub. Getting the car aligned thursday.

I still want to get some pics from the under the car of the rear end.

Thanks! That lovely 300 some dollar Koch tool. Rented it on here. For the diff bushings I bought the Koch tools myself and now they're just sitting around. In total took about an hour to get all 7 bushings pressed out when Indy shops wanted 5-6 hours!

Beautiful Evan! It's a little low for my tastes but everything else is just stunning---the wheels, the color, the detailing. Perfect. Love the LMs (they are LMs, right?) so much better than the E90 wheels, which looked too chunky for me. Keep it up!

So far so good with all the poly. It's doesn't feel much stiffer than from what it felt like before I got this all done to be honest.
