They'll basically lead to you buying a nice low expense ratio ETF later today

I bought some SCHV last April and it's gained 10% since then! Not bad, eh? Of course it won't do that every year and may even go down with the market, but it's long term.
Up 25% on AMD and 13% on NVIDIA for the past couple months

I'd expect AMD to rise significantly if Ryzen pans out. I'd almost short Intel if that is the case. I pretty much don't trade individual securities as a rule though it is tempting.

Meh, it's fun and as long as you're only trading a small % of your total portfolio it's worth the risk IMO.

Hmmm, I don't have any component manufacturers in my portfolio, I actually only have tesla, FB, and apple when it comes to tech stuff. You guys think AMD is still a decent play? Analysts think its a smart buy.

AMD hasn't had a chip competing with Intel's top performer in a decade and they haven't had a chip competing in $/performance for several years as well. Their last major release was in 2013 I think. They're coming out with a new design this year (Ryzen). They rehired a guy named Jim Keller who had previously led the efforts in making the Athlon 64 line which dominated PC performance processors in the early 2000s. All things point to the Ryzen being competitive with Intel's top performers and offering significantly higher performance per dollar. All things point to AMD having a good 2017 and 2018 from a development and product release perspective.

On Intel's side, they'll have to lower their pricing to compete. But they've been doing very incremental improvement for the last 4-5 generations of core processors, so who knows if they've been holding back waiting for this. Maybe in 2018, Intel will take a big leap forward to squash AMD. Basically I'm thinking Intel could be sandbagging for the past 5 years.

Also remember that AMD is sourced by Microsoft for the Xbox One CPU and GPU.

So it's an all or nothing play then, much like many of my pharma stocks have been. I don't mind risking some money on a longshot.

I wouldn't really call it a Hail Mary. It's a bit more methodical than that but yeah if it flops it'll hurt their value a lot. I'm sure a lot of their value in the past quarter comes from news of Ryzen. I think at absolute minimum you have AMD at the lead in performance per dollar by a decent margin.

I think the AMD ship might have already sailed. It's up 587% over the last year despite having terrible fundamentals. Looks like a massively successful Ryzen is already priced in.

Oh wow. Yeah I didn't look at it. It probably is already priced in since anyone in the know has known about Ryzen potential for a while.

It isn't easy to predict where Snap will be priced. A pricing range will be included in a subsequent filing closer to the IPO date. The S-1 states that Snap valued its shares at $16.33 at the end of 2016, giving the company a market value of $17 billion based on just over a billion outstanding shares. That $16.33 price undoubtedly is low relative to where the IPO will be priced.

Might be good to buy right now for the short term and make some money with all the excitement. SNAP is going the way of TWTR, nothing but down after all the excitement.
