Because aerospace in general is one of the most bureaucratic, over staffed, underskilled industries Ive ever worked in. And everyone else I know who has been in it and left has the same sentiment.

The real talent isn't at NASA, Lockheed, or SpaceX, it's at Apple. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Looking at moving into the medical industry myself. Just wrapped up an interview on Friday for an applications engineer position in NC.

Nice! Is that for medical device or medical equipment?

Graduated ME in 2012. Had 5 interviews and 3 offers before I left school. I wasn't a stellar candidate either, 3.0 GPA with some extra circulars (FSAE). I was slowly starting to look for my second job when a recruiter called me. Interviewed, and then moved across the country.

Neither.

Medical packaging. More focused on polymers and biomedical science. Although I would be working with medical equipment manufacturers.

Packaging engineers aren't real engineers.

Close but not quite. Charlotte. Was going to text you last week about recommendations but I was literally in and out in less than a day.

That's probably the best part about it. Get a science degree but get employed as and paid as an engineer.

I'll have to brush up on my stats and do some six sigma training. Looking forward to that line of work again.

Where in VA are you now? Charlotte kind of sucks but there are pockets of decency, just have to find them. Lots of bleach blonde fake girls and douchebags that work in banking and act like Charlotte is NYC. The city calls its downtown uptown...and there isn't a downtown.

Hampton Roads. Can't be any worse. I'm surrounded by young military guys and we all know how many of them conduct themselves. Not much of a private sector in my area because of all the government influence. I've been to Charlotte in the past and found it tolerable. The cost of living is better than my current area. What are these pockets you speak of?

The upside is that Charlotte would put me in the middle of VIR and Road Atlanta. Not to mention Charleston would be much closer.
