New BMW Price Comparison Tool - PartCart - Need Feedback

All,

We've been working on a small project behind the scenes to create a useful tool for the community. It's called Part Cart and it allows you too look at pricing on any part from just about every major vendor in one easy to read view:

http://partcart.fcpeuro.com/

It's currently in Beta version and it still needs further development but we were interested in getting some feedback from the community to see what people think about it.

Not bad. Happy to see it's in beta, but very clean front end. My only immediate feedback would be that when searching a part number, only show that part number exactly. Example: when searching: 11427512300, you get oil kits that are blended with the results, but we don't know what they include until we click further. Sometimes it's a bundle of filters, sometimes it's bundled with other stuff. Easier said than done I'm sure. Oil filters I know are different, but perhaps make a separate category for when sold in clusters or apart of a kit? FCP has a lot of "kits" such as for the cooling system, suspension, and bushings, so such a filter could also help show the kits FCP offers

Pretty useful! I dunno about EEuroparts and Turner though. Nobody really uses those. I'd say RMEuropean might be a good one to add. Depending, of course, on your marketing strategy. Your prices do seem to be the lowest for the few parts I've tried--bravo. Something like this is reflective of overall transparency and I imagine it would be beneficial to FCP!

I guess the reviews up top kind of confused me at first when the results come up. Presented with a million things to click on. I dunno, maybe they can somehow be separated from the search results?

I think SilberVogel also has the furiousmethod.com website, right?

Anyway, I haven't seen him post on here for quite a while and was wondering where he went. Anyone know?

Interesting tool, but I probably won't use it. I generally order from you guys (I have VIP status) unless something isn't in stock and I must have it from another vendor.

I personally think I'd just use this to confirm how much I am saving buying parts at FCP, PLUS lifetime warranty, ha!

But as a test, I entered the part number for the idle control valve, and it only showed me ECS tuning prices? Is that because it's still in beta?

Here is my search: http://partcart.fcpeuro.com/search?p...01%20744%20713

I second Mango's comment about adding RMEuropean.
Other than that the site looks very useful -- thank you for creating it.

Hey everyone. Thank you for the feedback. We did make some immediate changes in regards to layouts. Those should be live pretty soon. Also, we are looking into adding RM European as well.

Oh, Iím around. Got busy with business and personal life, and miss being around the forums as often as I once was. Still have the E46 as a daily driver, still DIY-ing. No affiliation with the Furious Method site, my BMW PNPC tool is on the back burner at the moment but not forgotten, and actually currently lending a hand with FCP Euroís Part Cart project. Like the development behind their site and know thereís some good intent and direction there.

yeah, eEuroparts has pretty fair prices and often has some good discount codes. While I don't use them frequently, I have found they often have competitive/best prices on stuff like N52 water pumps, which is admittedly not something that most forum members here would be too concerned with.

Turner I'll agree with - that site is a mess to navigate and as far as I can tell they don't even identify what brand the part is that you're buying.

Def add RM - they have great prices and are popular around here.

@FCP - will the addition of this to the site make price matching automatic, or will there still be a form to fill out? I haven't really had anything to price match recently, but when I've tried the page linked from the FAQ, it just shows a "back" button and nothing else: https://www.fcpeuro.com/page/price-match - maybe it's my browser? Just using Chrome so I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

Even considering all the perks of FCP Euro, waiting for parts for 2 weeks on west coast is sometimes just too long. I am in California, and my last order from RM European that I placed on Friday afternoon was in my hands on Monday.

Be way cool if you could incorporate diagrams like at Realoem.com But it was still easy to use in different tabs to search a few parts I may buy in coming weeks.

If you need the parts faster, don't use free shipping. That simple.

Look I am just reporting the facts. My last order was placed on March 15th and arrived on March 28th. It would be great if FCP Euro had a distribution point on west coast. For me the free s/h takes about 8-10 days and there's often a day or two handling delay. FCP Euro is my first stop, but I often shop at RM European due to their speedy handling and proximity to west coast, and sometimes I order on Amazon or even ebay depending on the part. I shop around like most people here based on price, brands and delivery speed, and it's good to have a choice. But to get back to the topic, it's nice to see FCP Euro going an extra mile and offering a tool that can compare across the brands.

Takes a week+ for me to get stuff from FCP in CO when using free shipping. Not a knock on them, just a reality. If I need parts urgently, I get them elsewhere.

RM actually warehouses in Cali despite being HQ'ed in CO, so I'm not surprised folks get stuff quick out there.

I didn't know if you were exaggerating or not. If they have your parts in stock they will ship the next business day. They rarely don't have a part I need in stock. Even in Florida I'm getting stuff in 3 days once it ships. Maybe that's the VIP UPS Ground? Not sure
