I don't remember entire news networks dedicating weeks on the subject. I don't recall Donald Trump getting on TV and Challenging McCain. I don't recall political "movements" hosting rallies questioning McCain's eligibility.
If people are discussing it, it was an issue. Why would you fact check it unless something was in dispute? I didn't say it was a main issue, I said it was an issue. Which is was. People were wondering and people did fact checking, hence AN issue. Take off your asshole troll hat for 5 seconds, I promise you can put it back on afterwards.

Maybe you don't know what tea bagging is. Or maybe you are expert at it and this qualified to call others teabaggers?

Teabaggers are ignorant old people who think they're patriots, but in reality are only being used by the same corporatists who co-opted the republican party and turned it into shlt.

I thought you knew?

What is the debate?

If your parent is a US Citizen, so are you.

Regardless of where you physically born.

If your parents were the President and First Lady and you were born while they were on vacation in Europe, would you be a US Citizen?

Of course. Same applies to everyone with US parent(s).

It would appear that CNN has no problem with making it an issue

I'm sure he would provide it in about 10 seconds.

Disagree completely. We have rules and laws for a reason. He should not be allowed to run, and bitchslapped for ignoring the law. Rand FTW.

They are citizens, but are not natural born, unless it was a military base. If your pregnant wife is relaxing in Bora Bora and the kid pops out, no president position for them. Rules are rules.

Those are not the rules. Are you saying that many of our diplomats children should never be eligible for presidency?

It doesn't get any more natural than popping out of an American vagina.

Im not saying it, it's the law. Based on my understanding, unless you are born on American soil (which includes US military bases and embassies) you cannot be president of the United States, regardless who your parents are...even if THEY ARE the Mr. and Mrs. President. Personally, I like that rule. Relaxing on it will lead to foreigners being able to be president, and that's not something I personally want (and Im a foreigner.)

So an anchor baby can be President but the children of an ambassador can't?

I don't think you quite understand the rules.

According to the law as it is written, yes.

Quote:
Black's Law Dictionary (9th Edition) defines "Natural Born Citizen" as "A person born within the jurisdiction of a national government".
The USSC hasn't ruled on this yet. I guess it's only a matter of time before the issue gets to them.

http://www.indiana.edu/~kdhist/H105-...ation1790.html

Text of the Naturalization Act of 1790:

Quote:
And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens: Provided, that the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States
Nothing about having to be born on a base or in an embassy (many of which don't have birthing centers).

Naturalization Act of 1790

The Naturalization Act of 1790 stated that "the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens". (Act to establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization, 1st Congress, 2nd session, March 26, 1790, 1 Stat.L. 103 at 104, 2 Laws of the U.S., ed. Bioren & Duane (1815) 82 at 83.) This act was superseded by the Naturalization Act of 1795, which did not mention the phrase natural born citizen.

Where a person is conceived matters not. It's all about location of birth.
