RNC Chair Priebus Tells CNN and NBC to Cancel Hillary Clinton Shows or Get No Debates

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sh...ton-shows-or-g

Quote:
As NewsBusters reported, CNN and NBC are planning programs about Hillary Clinton in the coming months.

On Monday, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus sent letters to both organizations informing them that if they don't cancel these shows, he will recommend the RNC not participate in any primaries sponsored by their networks:

“As an American company, you have every right to air programming of your choice. But as American citizens, certainly you recognize why many are astounded at your actions, which appear to be a major network’s thinly-veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales of the 2016 presidential election. This special treatment is unfair to the candidates for the Democratic nomination in 2016 who might compete against Secretary Clinton (including Vice President Biden, Governors O’Malley, Cuomo, and Hickenlooper, Senator Klobuchar and others) and to the Republican nominee, should Clinton compete in the general election.”

To Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, Priebus wrote:

“There’s ample cause for concern. Executives and employees of Comcast, NBC’s parent company have been generous supporters of Democrats and Secretary Clinton. David Cohen, Comcast’s EVP, raised over $1.4 million for President Obama’s reelection efforts and hosted a fundraiser for the president. Comcast Corp. employees have donated $522,996 to the president and donated $161,640 to Secretary Clinton’s previous campaigns.

“Your company has expressly stated that your choice to air the miniseries in the near future would avoid concerns of running afoul of equal time election laws. This suggests a deliberate attempt at influencing American political opinion in favor of a preferred candidate, not to mention a guilty conscience.”

Priebus concluded both letters:

"Out of a sense of fairness and decency and in the interest of the political process and your company's reputation, I call on you to cancel this political ad masquerading as an unbiased production.

"If you have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC's Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote of the RNC stating that the committee will neither partner with you in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates which you sponsor."

How will CNN and NBC respond?

Stay tuned.
Someone's scared of Billary.

Then they win or draw the debate even if they lose it. They have the perfect foil deflect any attacks leveled at them post-debate.

I wouldn't give those networks anything, they're appendages of the DNC

Said no Republican ever when accepting campaign "donations" from a major corporation.

Given how during the 2012 campaign the interminable GOP debates basically devolved into a cannibalistic shark fest for all the electorate to watch in horror, I'm sure Rinse is looking for any excuse to curtail that for 2016. If he can ride on the MSM-meme to feed meat to his base in the process, all the better. So fine, grab up your ball and stomp off the playground in a snit and leave the wide media exposure the debates give to the Dems, great strategy there.

Sure sounds better than saying, "We don't want to expose the guts of our policies for all the electorate to see again" (insert sausage-making analogies here...).

The comments are spot on. MSNBC (in particular) has become nothing other than a cheerleader.

MSNBC is a 3rd string JV cheerleader. Meanwhile, Fox News is winning state.

Say what you will.. I didn't see Hannity hosting one of the debates. Nor did I see him lying to the general public about what was or was not said in the rose garden by one of the candidates... only to then backtrack and make a tenth page (buried story) apology for incorrectly correcting one of the candidates during one of the most crucial moments in the election.

Hannity claimed that on 60 Minutes President Obama characterized the death of an American ambassador and other violence as "bumps in the road."

Video: link

What he actually said:

Well, I'd said even at the time that this is going to be a rocky path. The question presumes that somehow we could have stopped this wave of change. I think it was absolutely the right thing for us to do to align ourselves with democracy, universal rights, a notion that people have to be able to participate in their own governance. But I was pretty certain and continue to be pretty certain that there are going to be bumps in the road because, you know, in a lot of these places, the one organizing principle has been Islam. The one part of society that hasn't been controlled completely by the government. There are strains of extremism, and anti-Americanism, and anti-Western sentiment. And, you know, can be tapped into by demagogues. There will probably be some times where we bump up against some of these countries and have strong disagreements, but I do think that over the long term we are more likely to get a Middle East and North Africa that is more peaceful, more prosperous and more aligned with our interests.

I guess you didn't see a lot of things.

^^^ Every prime time newscaster has made dumb comments. Only one countered the accuracy of the comments made by a presidential candidate DURING THE DEBATE AS A MODERATOR only to then retract her statements later acknowledging she was wrong (a retraction that had 1/1000th the impact of the initial rebuttal).

He lied to the general public on the same topic. Yet here you come to his defense and not MSNBC.

So there is no difference between Candy committing the error while she is supposedly serving as an unbiased moderator in a presidential debate, and Hannity committing a similar error during one of his typical weeknight opinion shows, when no one could possibly construe him as impartial?

What are you babbling about? A comment Hannity made on 60 minutes? He was wrong and misquoted Obama? Fine.

What on earth does that have to do with the bias during a presidential debate (the comments I made) and how a major news outlet (through their anchor) was able to incorrectly call out a candidate for inaccuracy only to then make a back end of the paper revision and apologize? One comment is obviously a biased remark from a biased Fox News host.. the other is a (in my opinion biased) mistake during one of the most critical pivot points in the 2012 election. You can't possibly be comparing the severity of these nor their impact on an election (the point of this thread).

Jeeeeeeeebuz man
