AR build

Currently in the process of building my own AR.

Anyways I have the parts for my lower which I'm about to assemble.

-spikes tactical lower
-palmetto state armory MOE LPK
-magpul moe stock, grip, trigger guard

The upper I'm going with a spikes tactical forged m4 flat top upper to start.

***went with 5.56/.223 instead of 5.45x39***

Gun is finished for now, time to start modding even more

In terms of building the whole thing, I can't give you much of anything for the barrel and BCG. The problem with the AK x39 rounds is that they are poorly supported in the AR market for building with individual components. All of the stuff lies in the middle and lower end of the quality spectrum. I would recommend that you just buy a full upper.

As far as DI vs piston, it depends on how much you want to spend. The AK x39 rounds do have some issues with compatibility, reliability and excess wear with DI systems relating to the high bolt thrust, steel cases and magazine requirements. The most reliable 5.45x39 rifles I've seen have been piston. If you're interested in Piston, I'd steer you towards Huldra Arms. They make some pretty good quality stuff, and it sounds like their 5.45x39 system is running solid.

I have a Huldra (adams arms) 5.45x39 upper on a spikes lower and it is fantastic. I have had zero problems with it and I am extremely happy with the purchase. If you have any q's feel free to pm me.

The cool thing about Huldra is that Adams Arms makes their components, including the piston system, but it's higher specs and quality control than a standard AA rifle. The piston system is upgraded too specifically for Huldra.

Isn't there feed issues with the 7.62x39 uppers?

Yeah, trigger feels extremely light...almost feels too light. Barely gotta pull it to set it off.

Had a takedown spring and detent go flying across the room when installing the front takedown pin. Took an hour to find...other than that was a quick and easy assembly. I'm happy with it.

DPMS upper. Functions very well, smooth as butter. 16" 1/9 twist. Very lightweight. M4 feed ramps. Flash hider. It fits very well with my lower, perfect fit.

Closer to rear. Gives you wider FOV than all the way up front like everyone puts it...

That's not the point of using a no-magnification optic. By putting it that far back you're losing the ability to shoot with two eyes open at speed.
