Should I keep US citizenship?

Edited because I am a dumba$$.

http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/a/SB100...?mg=reno64-wsj

New question still dealing with citizenship. If you had many assets out of the Country would you consider relinquishing your citizenship due to lower taxes on any income you receive from those assets?

Should I keep US citizenship?

I'm just debating the pros and cons. Besides I'm surprised you guys aren't telling me to stay here and not be a citizen. I would end up paying taxes and SS to USA and wouldn't get SS benefits... Isn't that good for you guys?

Do you know how many millions of people would trade everything they have to be a US citizen?

What a stupid question!

Summary: No, you should not since you obviously don't appreciate it.

US is the best country in the world. Seize the opportunity and don't think back.

Re: Should I keep US citizenship?

Like someone said if you have to ask that means you think your indian citizenship is better so why ask the question?

I'm very proud to be a US Citizen and there was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to be one....so have a good trip back to India and don't let the door hit you on the way out...

If you give away your citizenship you'd better be planning to leave the country. Because that's kissing any chance of a real job goodbye. I was a dual German/British citizen and I had to give up German citizenship for US citizenship to start my career job. Your best bet is moving to bombedout, India and work in a call center 80 hours a week for 40 years. All the while wishing you were in North America. Food for thought.

Depends on what your chinz look like. If they are 7/11 slurpie indian chinz then Yes become citizen. If they are feather head dress Pocahontas casino cash in indian chinz then consider a life in slot machine rental on a preservation.

you're questioning whether or not to remain a citizen of a country people risk dying just to get within it's borders. maybe go live in india so you can take a bath in a river with dead bodies and feces in it. that sounds like a better place for sure.

And just a question: even if I took Indian citizenship, a green card is close to citizenship in terms of getting a job is it not?

Are your parents making you do this?

I have an Indian colleague who's mother for the longest time would get resumes from girls in India to try to matchmake him with a potential spouse and keep the family pure. He told his mother to eff off. True story.

Depends on your career path. McDonald's? Sure it is. But if you want over 70k a year with a Bach/masters most of those jobs require some security clearances which means you need citizenship. So as I said. If you give up citizenship your best bet is to leave the country.

That's borderline Asian.
