Credit Card suggestion

Last night I found out that Amex closed my Clear card due to fraudulent charges on my account (long story). What I used to like about the Clear card was that I get a $25 gift card for every $2500 I spend. Which was great because I averaged about $700 worth of gift cards yearly.

I currently have BOA Rewards Signature Visa which I use as a backup when business doesnt accept Amex.

I was thinking on applying for Barclaycard Arrival World MC (Link) that offer 2X miles on all purchases and 10% back when I redeem when I redeem my miles.

Or the Amex BlueSky Prefered or BlueCash Prefered.

Note: I currently live in Costa Rica so I wont be able to use all the perks that most credit cards provide. I only use it for large purchases like travel, software or hardware for my business.

Any suggestions?

TIA

BlueCash Preferred for me (however, for me the incentive is 6% cashback on groceries and ALL giftcards at grocery stores )

Dayum son, you spend $70,000 yearly?

IMHO if you spend a lot, get an airline miles card. That'll rack up more benefits than $700 in gift cards.

I didnt realize I spent that much until I checked my yearly summary from Amex. Sometimes I use it for travel but most of it its software licenses or computers that I use the most (I co-own a small call center). I was thinking the same and get a travel card.

Im trying to figure out what suits me the best.

Do you stay in hotels much? You need to calculate your reward per dollar spent.

I calculate Starwood Starpoints at about 2.5 cents per point. At one point per dollar spent, that's a 2.5% return.

If there are many Starwood hotels that you would stay at, and if you'll use the points, that would be a good option (the SPG card).

Bluecash Preferred would be another option, but only if you spend a lot on the categories that earn the most rewards.

Lastly, I like Chase's Sapphire Preferred. Ultimate Rewards can be transferred to a lot of partners, and are worth about 1.2 cents per point when booking travel. However, they can be earned faster than SPG points, as Chase has several double point categories (including travel and dining). They also offer promotions like triple points on dining the first Friday of every month.

Credit Card suggestion

You're only getting 1% when you be getting at least 2-5%. Look in that other thread, but fidelity 2% card might be a good start for you.
