No it is solid plastic. Take a look at yours. There is no way that there is a chip inside. The car recognizes that the emergency spare is being used and does not check for key codes.

I'm talking about the one on the right. It's solid plastic and is meant to be kept under the car or in your wallet. So that it can be exposed to the elements, it has no chip but the car accepts it anyway.

Sweet, off to print one! haha I have never seen these before, I still don't understand how it would work.

FYI, I was quoted $210 for a service key at the Dealer, so just a metal key with nothing special. This is another relatively cheap option if you don't go USA.

Do you have a 3D printer?! And I believe the way it works is the same principal that allows the main key to start the car and open the glove box, but the valet only starts the car. There is probably a slightly different design of the plastic that allows the car to recognize it.

Bought new full function key from USA

The plastic wallet key DOES have a chip in it.
How else do you think it starts the car? Black magic cos the key is black?

I'm in Florida and the dealers here want between $175 and $200 for a key. I have the three metal keys but like having all the keys for my cars. I emailed him for a quote on a plastic key.

I also verified that they are a legit dealer by a quick yahoo search.

I was not the first member to order a key from this dealer. Raj had done so and he put me onto him. I paid the money and got the key. Totally straight forward.

I've bought one also as my spare key has faulty electronics where it will always lock/unlock the car, but only starts the car 1 in about 15 attempts.
