Seems fine to me. I've been driving around with the aftermarket glass for about a year and not a single pit, chip, or crack. And you know how hard I tear up the canyons Also as I said, the glass is actually a tiny bit thicker than the ZKW glass. awesome!

Worst case scenario, $30 every two years, still a good deal. but i strongly feel this glass will wear/chip at the same rate or better than stock ZKW glass. When you look at it, it's 99.999% identical. even has the same SAE engravings on it. everything is an identical fit.

I always liked the fluted glass because it made the pitting less evident.

According to realOEM, it appears as though pre 03.5 M3s came with the same fog lamps as the M-Tech non M cars. The part numbers are the same. After '03 they change.
In the case of those particular fogs, this restoration may not work since the patterned glass is what creates the projection pattern and less so the actual chrome reflector. I'd be willing to bet the chrome reflector in your case is a perfectly smooth chrome bowl with barely any (if any) "patterns" cut into it.

so i ordered the fog lights mango recommended...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

looks like they are not the same as what mango got.

I was surprised how dark the smoked lens was, not sure I like how dark they are...though they look pretty cool against my black bumper...gives it a stealth look.

however they are not exactly the same as the oem zkw fogs, the adjustment screws are in opposite directions.

I tested the new housings with the old oem zkw chrome backs vs. and the ones provided. it seemed to me there wasn't any difference but i was only testing in my driveway and it was not yet dark enough out. i will comment after a night ride.

here are some comparison pics of the fog lights.

showing how the adjustment screws are opposite each other.

bulb it came with

old oem zkw's

new fogs from amazon

some reason the link he has is for Smoked, I received the new ones and they are plastic and no glass. Mango can you confirm the seller and brand you bought?

I bought my particular ones from ebay. I just clicked on the fog lights that most resembled mine. I couldn't find the exact eBay link anymore (I bought these over a year ago) so I gave you guys a source on Amazon for ones that looked similar. Did the ones you buy say "smoked" on the ad?

PM me if you guys want an answer next time, I don't go in lighting much.

Yah they were the smoked lens at amazon. But they were a lot darker than I expected. So I sent them back to get the regular clear ones.

The smoked fogs are almost useless this dark.
