Need some help with shotgun fitment/recoil

My issue is with the pad and how it is placed on my chest. Currently the way i shoot it is more or less centered just under my collarbone so the top part of the pad rests on the collarbone.

For me it needs to be this high up so i can get a good cheek weld and not crane my neck far forward. However to reduce felt recoil, I feel like the pad should be resting squarely on my pecs, which would send the recoil impact right into the muscle and be less painful. However the pad sitting squarely on my pecs would be way to low to be useful.

Right now it is not painful but just a little sting + some minor redness after shooting a couple rounds of 5stand.

Is there a way for me to adjust my recoil pad so it is like half on half below the stock? Is that how drop/cast works? I'm very unfamiliar with modding shotguns so any guidance is appreciated.

shotgun is a benelli supernova 12ga 28" barrel.

also my scoring is in the low 20's avg so it's not like my form is way off, i'm just trying to get more comfortable.

Do you have a Field model?
If a raised comb insert (med) to allow a more heads up position.
With a Comfortech stock (they are nice) you can't utilize an adjustable butt plate, unfortunately.
Additionally, the pitch of the butt may not suit you. Ideally you want the butt pad to match your shape when in a shooting stance. Shooters that are more muscled (ie thick chested) will need a few degrees more positive pitch than someone that is thinner. The provided shims can certainly help with this to some degree.
When I get a new shotgun, I repeatedly hit a pattern board and make adjustments until I am happy with any adjustment that can be made. Sometimes it requires additional custom fitting...most times not.
I can say confidently that if you enjoy shooting...this won't be your only shotgun..or your last.
Enjoy the quest for the perfect shotgun(s)!

Another thing I have found that helps me out is to point left elbow out to about 90 degrees or parallel to the ground. I find this helps me keep my head in the right position.
