Pretty awesome.

I train this kid, little football player. 10 years old. Beast. He went to Jim Kelly's football camp in Buffalo this past week. Some of you guys that follow my instagram or fb page may have seen him.

Didn't want to post this on your CF FB but,

Please please please do not teach the back arch on bench press. I don't care what power lifters do, it is improper form and definitely not a good way to bring someone into doing that exercise.

I do a slight arch. Not as extreme as some you'll see. Most people aren't even flexible for it anyway lol. But I see your point. It's better as a muscle building movement not to arch.

3 main stable points of contact you need... Upper back on the bench, ass on the bench, feet on the ground. Having a slight arch in the lower back is "good" form.

I'm about to branch out on my own and start up an affiliate as well. I'm curious as to what type of things popped up during the process that you didn't foresee? Is there anything you wish you could have changed before you opened or anything else you can think of that may help me out.

Thanks

It may be different for me since I'm in a garage but I have almost no overhead which is nice. From what I see, just like peoples income and lift numbers on the internet, people inflate their membership numbers a lot. So be very conservative. I have 15 people in about 8 months and only about 9 of those are very steady. The other batch is full of people that love it then just disappear. When I say disappear, they literally just stop coming and talking to you. I wish I knew why. I am not a "salesy" person so I'm not out there walking into stores and talking people up. I find that stuff gets you very low quality memberships. Such as people looking for a deal, and people that wont last. Word of mouth and social media has been number 1 for me.

I keep things simple and don't get too crossfitty. What I mean is almost every one of my days is strength, skill/accessory, and metcon. My metcons are usually lower skill movements and accessories to the strength. People are doing well and staying safe.

There is a lot of competition out there but this isn't always a bad thing. I am 10 minutes from the biggest facility within 100miles and they have brought a lot of attention to CF. Some good, so downright awful. People have mentioned the 15+ people classes, the clickyness, the cult environment, the lack of strength work etc.

The bad...people hate CF. I go back and forth daily with if I should affiliate again or how long I should. It's impossible to measure the amount of people I haven't gotten because I am CF but it has gotten me about 4 steady people. So it pays for itself but is it hurting me? I am very anti CF in some ways because I think HQ is just plain wrong on a lot of things, outlandish with it's claims, and way too close minded. I almost feel like a sellout but I find people wouldn't come workout in a dudes garage if it didn't have the name.

But as you know, CF is pretty much an undefinable term. My members are not culty, koolaid drinkers, or even kipping on pull ups. I do more S&C than what you'll see at a regular CF.

I'm a little all over the place with this post but the most irritating thing is the people that just disappear. They'll be so amped up one week and then just not continue the following month. Drives me nuts and makes forecasting very difficult.

I would ask you one question though. Why do you want to do it. As a main source of income? Because you want to help people?
