You boys don't get my sarcasm. I was messing with Mike about Canton. Jeez

But all Boston guys should go work out in Mike's gym when it's done. I'll be down for that. Have a weekend warrior sort of event.

Meeting with that investor dude today at 12:30

Little nervous, excited, hesitant.

I don't know why if he has this big development group that he wants me when he could just open it himself and hire employees. Either way it will be a good meeting. I may like what I hear and see where it goes.

Good luck with everything man.

I still enjoy Crossfit (but recently switched to OLY primarily). I plan to open an OLY gym later in life myself. After settling down from the military moves.

My advice, Go the CF route with specially Oly classes. I think it would be easier to make money and you can still do what you like.

Seriously thinking of starting a CrossFit affiliate

I thought that as well. Or affiliate through catalyst or attitude nation. Either way I'm in no rush as I haven't been anywhere longer than 3 years yet. Not feasible at this point.

Went really well. Almost too good to be true. He wants to invest heavily. We haven't discussed the details but I would be part owner, probably small, and draw a salary as the head coach/general manager. I would own the affiliate since you have to be level 1 he couldn't even if he wanted to right now. His company would oversee all regular business ops like accounting, marketing and all that stuff. This guy had all kinds of figures and ideas worked out already.

After the meeting I emailed him thanking his for lunch and saying that with his business sense and my passion for this stuff that I think we'd make a great team. He replied with this. "Agreed on all points. I'll start looking for locations. In the mean time come up with a dream list of equipment for 10 people classes".

So we've been emailing back and forth a bit. I sent my list and a custom list from rogue. He's going to look more closely this week and we'll touch base.

Originally I said to myself that I want to do this alone and own 100% but with my current situation (not being able to do it without a salary), or having to start really really small, this arrangement may work perfectly. He know business, has a really successful company now, and can probably make it so I'm successful. Whether this means I'm 5% owner or 30% I have no idea. I'm very hopeful right now and his plan is to have a small enterprise of local cf boxes in the area. I'd love to get in early and get a piece of the pie. I'll keep you guys updated.

How do you know this guy? I'm sure you mentioned it before but I don't feel like reading through the thread.

He saw me posting on the cf message boards. He's the ceo/owner with his brother of a company that develops business, construction etc. I don't know him personally at all. He sought after me after seeing how serious I was about starting a box and he liked the questions I was asking. He's very well known in this area. I was telling one of my gf's about it and she's like holy sh1t. I know who that guy is. She's an accountant and I guess in some dealings has heard of him.

It sounds very promising but who the hell knows. I'm still very realistic and assuming things wont workout like should. I basically don't want to get my hopes up even though everything seems to be going great. One day at a time. I have the CF level 1 cert next month so I'm just looking forward to that right now.

He sent me 6 locations. 2 are in my town and the other 4 are within 3 miles of the biggest CF within 40 miles of here. I do not want to be in the neighboring town stepping on their toes.

I know the owner and a bunch of members very well. Out it respect I would try it even though he has a better product to offer right now. Huge facility, tons of equipment, and huge training staff.

thinking a lot about this over the next few days. I have the level 1 cert in 2 weeks and want to apply for affiliation immediately. I also want to place an order on black friday since I need to order almost 3k worth of stuff. I need to get thinking about the website, pricing, promotion etc. Also getting insurance, and figuring out how to deduct people's accounts for fees, and a waiver/info form. Anyone have advice on this?
