What specifically gives you cause for concern? Is it you or the car?

How does your shifter lever feel my was totally worn out and swiggly even in gear and when I shifted I heard a loud thud noise. I fixed that by getting a new guibo and shifter bushings. The stuff I should do and would recommend. Is possibly the vanos. I don't think mine is working with my high mileage. Yours might be good though I mean it was owned by a tec. I want do the cooling system saving my tips up right now. Dude why you gotta be all the way in Chicago I need a bro to wrench with. I use to have a e46 bro but he went off to college. Now I wrench with my e39 bro.

Not the actual shift itself that I'm worried about, but the shifting motion from 1st to 2nd or from 3rd to 2nd.

Not sure how this could be driver induced.

Re: Just purchased '01 330ci stick, sienna red!

Hmm... So I've got a question for you guys. Weird clunk coming from driver side rear, right after I switch back to stock suspension, and get it aligned. Also, since having the car, it is sometimes difficult to engage first gear, in which case I will simply roll it a bit in second and then it will shift into first just fine. Both of these things point to possible subframe damage, no?
