I am opting for the Glock 19 Gen 4 over the Gen 3. However, it's taking fucking forever to get my FOID.

I like my G19, it's a fine gun, but I shot my friend's M&P and it was more comfortable IMHO.

It was the recoil spring. Glock used the wrong recoil spring in the 9mm models.

From what I've read Glock would replace the spring at no charge. Newly shipped units come with the corrected spring.

I found the 19 to be more comfortable. I guess it all depends on your hands.

Glock 17/19 or m&p 9 whichever you are more comfortable with/shoot better. The fnx 9 is nice too

Re: Looking for 9mm range gun

So I was looking around today and noticed some of the gen4 glocks were made in austria and some in USA. Is there any difference between the two?

From what ive heard. The frames are made in the USA, but the slides are made in Austria and are imported here, but the whole thing is assembled in GA.

The ones made in Austria are older models. The ones made in the US are going to be the newest. Glocks are now able to be made in the US. Glock changed the process for treating the slides.

you can get 9mm 1911s, finding a decent one in your price range would be tough.

Re: Looking for 9mm range gun

Well i picked up my g17 gen 4 this morning. Looking forward to shooting it this afternoon. Paid $560 out the door for it. Think i got a pretty good deal since some shops are selling them for $589 plus tax.

Congrats! Outstanding pickup. Now get your hands on magazines and loads of range ammo. Then take a handgun course.

Re: Looking for 9mm range gun

Just finished putting 200 rounds down it. I really like the feel and control. Coming from shooting 40 it is much easier to keep the 9mm on target. I was constantly shooting low and left tho. Never really had that problem with my sig but I guesa I need to get the feel for the glock.

Im already looking at a ghost trigger kit for it to help with the trigger pull.

The Glock trigger is pretty decent. If you want to make it better, go to town. Money better served on ammo, though.
If you are pulling low-left, and you shoot righty, there are two things that you need to do:
1. concentrate on pulling the trigger straight back to the rear. Make sure you're not using too much finger on the trigger
2. overgripping with the right hand. Reduce the pressure with the right hand and increase grip pressure with the left hand. Make sure the left hand is in direct contact with the side of the grip.

Glocks (and most polymer pistols) have a different feel and shooting dynamic that you need to work with. It'll take time to get use to, but once you find the trick, it'll be a laser.
