Verizon FTL

They did this a while ago. But the way around it is to never upgrade or extend your contract - just buy your phones outright (craigslist, ebay, etc) and just transfer it

The official iPhone 5S/5C thread

I've switched phones 5 times and have always kept my unlimited day through AT&T.

I went from an HTC EVO 4G LTE to a 5 last year. The one thing I didn't like about having a big screen is that it forces you to use both hands to use the phone. With the 5, I can easily hold the phone and use it with the same hand. Comes in handy when you have to call someone while driving. Aside from that, the big screens are great.

I can use a 4.7" phone with one hand easily

Anything smaller feels constricting to me.

IIRC, this is why Apple doesn't want to increase the screen size. They don't want people to lose the ability to reach every part of the screen with their thumb (aka only using one hand)

Re: The official iPhone 5S/5C thread

I could understand needed 2 hands with a Note or something similar. 5" or less isn't bad though. Having a smaller bezel helps. Apple could really improve the iPhone there IMO.

Their iPhone is pretty optimized based off the real-world and not androidforums.com

How about this, we have a wager right now

We post a video of ourselves texting with one hand, "I like turtles a whole lot.",

no mistakes, with our fingers actually protruding on the other side of the screen. No weird androfag balancing acts.

Re: The official iPhone 5S/5C thread

In the "real world" the bigger screen trend has been accompanied by another trend of the overall phone size managing to either stay the same size, or shrink. The real enemy to ease of use isn't screen size as much as it is overall phone size. Some phones have really been able to strike a good balance there IMO. Plus, a tiny bezel around the screen just looks cool. I think the large home button kind of limits that on the iPhone though, especially now that it includes a fingerprint scanner and back light (possibly). A notification light and quick easy unlocking may be worth it though, the fingerprint scanner should be especially cool if it works reliably. Beats having to type in a password everytime.

The standard position for the back button in the top left of apps on iOS makes it necessary to keep screen size down also, since "back" is a pretty frequently used function. It needs to stay easily accessible. I still would bet on a larger screen option sometime in the future though. The ipad mini wasn't supposed to happen either, remember?

I saw an article a few weeks ago saying they were "testing screens as large as 6 inches." I seriously doubt they will ever go phablet size, but another size bump up to the 4.5 - 4.7" range could be useful for a new model to go alongside the standard 4". That way, people who want something a little larger have another choice besides leaving Apple and they can still capture that sale (rather than losing it to Samsung etc).

To help out even more, maybe they'll do an option in iOS 8 to move the back button to the bottom so it's not a longer reach on a bigger screen.

I went from galaxy S2 to 4S to 5 on release day and a few months ago I picked up a HTC one. The iPhone 5 is too bland. I love having a download folder where I can download anything onto the phone, if iPhone started doing that I might go back. I still have my 5, but for now I am loving the HTC One.

I did the same thing and drank the Apple kool-aid for a few years. Just bought a Galaxy S4 and will not ever go back. Once you also see what revolutionary features actually are (not marketing gimmicks for what amounts to the same phone), you'll never go back either.

Add the following plus the Parrot bluetooth adaptor.

Voice command is a wonderful thing, especially when it actually works unlike Siri...
