S3 in traffic and when I have a clear lane S5 with DSC on and sport off. I get approximately 22.1 MPG.

+1. By a prius if fuel economy is a focus. Mines a daily driver and the buzz I get from driving it far outweighs any fuel cost concerns.

drive mine at smg 5 all day everyday. sport mode only when the leds on the tach allow. get about 19 mpgs, and i wreck havok on the city streets. manual or auto depends on traffic.. lol
and if its hotter than 90 out i dont drive the car.<--- number one cause of smg failure

I drive with s4, dsc on, sport off. I drive like a granny and get 23-24 mpg. I won't ever drive in auto mode because its incredibly awkward.

I drive mine like its was stolen.. hahaha.... ok seriously I drive it like any other car.. as needed.. but id be lying if I say I never get on the pedal.. anyone with any sort of sports car will get on the gas! S4 is what I normally drive around in tho.. rarely do I use S5, let alone S6...

^ I agree with the auto mode.. it is just weird letting it shift for you.

I'm getting ready to buy an m3 with an smg and the mechanic at the bmw dealership said you could only use the launch control about 10 times before you blowout the clutch pack
This doesn't seem right,if it was that delicate why have it at all
True or false?

I kind of want to drive a SMG but I don't want to fall in love with it and consider selling my manual

How do you drive your SMG?

I've used launch control on my vert but never on the coupe. I only used it once tho. It was fvcking crazy, I'll never do it again.

I just picked up a 04 m3 with an smg and first time driving,it feels like it really runs the rpms up before it shifts and I adjusted the setting below the shift knob and it didn't seem to make a difference, also pulling in the paddle shifter wouldn't hold it on an incline and a few times in auto mode taking off from a stop light it would start bucking
So tomorrow it's getting checked out at the shop

Automatic mode is terrible and honestly not worth using.

When you turn the button under the shifter up is it supposed to shift harder and quicker or just harder

Faster-during normal driving it will shift in about 1 sec and with it turned up it will still take about 1 sec but the shift will be harder

One second seems way too long. How quickly the car shifts has a lot to do with engine load.

How do you drive your SMG?

S4, dsc on for normal driving, jackass mode is sports button on s5 and m track mode. I used launch control a few times it's fun but afraid I will break something (4.5k) launch from the csl flash. Get around 21.4mpg
