Can anyone tell me what this is? Aux Interface?

The previous owner had it installed and I never met him to ask. It looks like an auxiliary interface with the cd changer. One side looks like rca, the other is a bunch of wires that go to the cd changer and wiring harness. However when I plug an aux cable into it and try and play music nothing happens. Do I need to have a special cd in there? I tried to look at the serial numbers but they are covered by Velcro strips and when I tried to take it off it ruined the label. The head unit is pre 2002. Thank you.

Plug your MP3 player in or whatever and hit "cd" on your dash. It should go to "disk 1" which is aux in that situation.

Also the cd changer is still functional, it plays CDs and operates normally.

Wink

If you ask me, it looks like a Line Output Converter...
Actually, I am quite certain.
I have one of these in my 330xi. (put in myself) You connect the leads to the Rear L & R (+) and (-)'s, and the RCA's are actually outputs... You run them to a secondary Amp to power a Subwoofer.

Actually, here is a video I just made to show people how to hook these up, because many people wanted to know:

To see exactly what it is, look for some kind of model number and google that

That's what I thought originally but after just installing one it has too many different wires and connections. I am pretty sure now it is some sort of auxiliary interface I just don't know how to make it work.

My output converter has 6 wires... How many wires does this thing have?

Hey, here is their website: http://pac-audio.com/
It used to be peripheralelectronics.com
But, apparently they are going through a re-branding.
Maybe you can ask them, or send them the pic?

I figured it out! It is an interface for the pioneer 6 disc changer, when you ground a specific wire it coverts to the aux input.
