What Brand For Valve Cover Gasket

I wanted to do my VCG but was just wondering what brand.. I've read some people saying not to get Victor-Reinz because some have a tendency to leak.

I searched for this answer but couldn't find a definitive answer. Anyone with the right answer please let me know.

Thanks

What Brand For Valve Cover Gasket

I don't have a dealership close to me I wanted to order it online an some sites don't specify or...

AutohausAZ has an "OEM" as some brand that starts with a G

BavAuto has oem as Victor Reinz

And I've seen a few other sites with another brand like Erving as OEM

I heard leaks from certain Victor Reinz so I just wanted to know what website for oem. I don't understand why there are different brands listed as oem; not oem alternative, but legit oem..

Where is the gasket $40?

I just got my gasket set plus grommets from the dealer. And it was no where near $40.

Today's self taught lesson: don't by from the dealer unless your desperate.

I was in a rush. This is what I got locally.

Re: What Brand For Valve Cover Gasket

nothing really. Just posting what I got.

Upset at myself because I'm out of free time for the next 2 months. So I had to pay extra for dealer parts vice internet parts.

But I will say this. That dealership is nice. Really nice.

My first time in a BMW dealer. Maybe I look like I can't afford one or wouldn't own one or maybe the sales people aren't like every other dealer. I almost couldn't tell the sales floor guys from all the other employees.

The parts girl new her stuff. And was insanely nice.

I doubt Victor Reinz is OE. Their gaskets are consistently crap on pretty much every model out there.

I'll look at my receipt and let you know for sure what kind of discount I got. I didn't feel "hooked up" when I walked out.

Victor gaskets are still based and producing in Germany. The gasket I got was made in hungry. It was identical to the plastic one I removed from the car.

None of these answers answer the actual question . What brand. I'm glad the victor reinz fitment is good; but its down the road and not every VCG . Some are made fine, but other have defects or something.

I just want to know what brand is the preferred VCG .

Honestly, no one knows with any degree of certaintly since there aren't markings on the OE part. If you want to be 100% sure of a quality piece, just buy it from BMW.

If available, I would choose Elring Klinger or Goetze over Victor Reinz
